The author has a way of writing sci-fi romances that makes me WANT to read them, especially considering sci-fi isn't one of my favourite genre's. She writes such compelling stories of characters that you grow to like and care about.

That aside the storylines are pretty interesting too. This one spanned 15 years, although it missed out the middle bit; we got the 17 and 19 year old ones and the 32 and 34 year old ones. Sweet, first love to hot, still first loves.

Another great story from the author.

Yeah, I really really liked this one, and even bought the last book in the trilogy before I finished it because I am that hooked on the story and in need of knowing how it's all going to end. I've found it very addictive and all my other books have gone on the backburner while I finish this series. If you haven't read it yet, you really should. Amazing!

I love all the Neph gang; Kaiden, Blake, Kopano, Marna...not too sure about Ginger yet, though.

Straight onto book 3!

I've never read anything by Bernard Cornwell, but I have heard good things about him.

This probably wasn't the best book of his to start with, I didn't read any reviews prior to starting this. Had I, I probably would have opted out.

The novel is centered around Shakespeare's younger brother, and A Midsummer Night's Dream. Richard Shakespeare wasn't a really interesting character, and had an insta-love story, in the middle of the mystery of the stolen plays.

Overall, just meh. Maybe I'll attempt to read something else by Cornwell? Maybe not.

Not much to say here as this remake is one of those rare beasts that's very good but not quite as good as the original.
The acting from the two leads is superb and the blossoming romance believable, the films pacing is also similar to the original.
Lovers of the first film may pass this one by as to not spoil their connection with it, however those not having encountered the original will be in for a treat as this vampire love story beats anything twilight has to offer.

I've given it three stars because I wanted this to be a happier story, I wanted Sophie to end up happy, and I guess in a way she was but I love romances in books and this one wasn't exactly all roses and light.

I was in turmoil for a lot of this. How everyone treated her and why was just so unfair but she'd made a promise to him and got a lot of shit for it. She never broke it though, despite the heartache it caused. Poor Sophie.

I love Lord of the rings for many reasons. It has great characters, tension and story. It has beautiful descriptions that help your imagination bloom. It has whole new languages. It has everything you need in a classic fantasy. The only drawback is the that it ends after a long read and you wish it continue. Overall it is one of the best fantasy books I've ever read and it set the tone for many since then. Top job Tolkien.

Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)
2018 | Action, Sci-Fi
Another movie that I feel gets quite a bit of undeserved negative attention.

An origin story of how Han Solo became the Han that we have come and known to love in the Star Wars universe. Some underdeveloped characters, as I think the makers literally just ran out of time and energy. Overall a fun movie with significant tie ins to the SW universe as a whole. Seeing the introduction of Chewy to Han was a personal highlight, as well was the performance of the great Woody Harrelson.

Giant robots fighting giant monsters!
A few slow moments (0 more)
One of my absolute favorite Sci-fi movies!
Everything you want in both a summer blockbuster and a Del Toro movie. Love the idea of escalation. Humanity felt so defenseless, the only way fight giant monsters was to create giant robots. The military approach is done well. Just enough human emotion to ground the story, but IMO not enough to get in the way of what you really want to see.
