The Fever
By Diane Hoh
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Duffy has a mysterious fever that has robbed her of her strength and left her helpless in her hospital bed. Now she's beginning to suffer from delirious dreams . . . or did she really witness a murder? Only the murderer knows for sure . . . and that makes Duffy the next victim.
Such a trip back to my teens!! I absolutely love these books and this one had a crazy little story. I need to get more of the point horrors!

The Marinated Meeple (1853 KP) rated Roll Player in Tabletop Games

Dice manipulation (4 more)
Many different end game bonuses
Cards change priorities
Colors of the dice matter
Variable player values
I adore this game, roll the dice then change them. Create a character.
So this game is really about efficiency. Take the rolls. Change them using your powers. Make your priorities and later maybe change them. I love the negative traights turned positive. Don’t need intelligence? Go after the foolish traight. Also are you a sociopath. Don’t be too good then. Or if you are a Hermit. Stay in the middle. I love this aspect as well. You make the dice fit your starting situation. Even your race; orc, dragon, human, elf makes a difference. So much to pay attention to. You’ll probably miss something and catch it halfway through. Laugh at yourself and figure it out. I love that it’s not over until the last die is placed. You can always tweak it. Plus. I’ve met the designer who is a nice guy. Which doesn’t surprise me. But does make me like it slightly more. I always want to celebrate great people in the world.
My last play: Dragonkin Sociopathic Ranger who is Dedicated, Devoted, Foolish, Honest, & Envious.
That even plays into some story telling aspects. Which a fun way to think about the game afterward. Tell a story about your charectures.
There’s an expansion for it. But I haven’t tried it yet.

My number 3 title in my #top10 #favourite films is 'Angel-a'
------------------------------------------
#Angela is a very underrated #lucbesson movie but for me its his absolute best work. This #film has had such a massive impact on my life/who I am as a person & for that reason alone its a film I hold so close to my #heart. Essentially a #love story but different to the kind we are used to #Angel-a is #heartbreaking, #funny, #strange & visually #breathtaking. Teaching not only about the importance of love but more about the importance of learning to #loveyourself first Angel-a has such a powerful message especially for people feeling lost in life. Simply #beautiful to look at with every scene looking like a piece of art & directed with such #passion, love & care that I was pulled right into its #weird & wonderful story right from the start. Its an #emotional rollercoaster at times hitting you right in the heart but it also has just enough #crazy Besson style & humour to make it truly unique & different to what you would expect from the genre. Seemingly #inspired by the film wingsofdesire by #wimwenders & just like it Angle-a too is also rich in #philosophy & the cast is an absolute joy to watch. While not for everyone I simply can not describe how much I adore this movie. ------------------------------------------------

Gareth von Kallenbach (980 KP) rated Early Man (2018) in Movies
Jul 8, 2019
From the creators of Chicken Run and Wallace and Gromit comes the “true”
story of the origin of the world’s most popular sport-football (or soccer
as we call it in the U.S.). A charming film that takes us back to the dawn
of man, The Stone Age, where a motley band of cavemen and women live an
archaic lifestyle foraging and hunting for their food.
Their way of life
is shattered as the Bronze age approaches, and mining for metal becoming
superior, along with the love of football (soccer) playing second. The
leader of the Bronze Age conquerors Lord Nooth strips the cavemen from
their land to mine for more metal and for smelting. Eager to keep their
way of life and get their home back, the Cavemen challenge Lord Nooth to a
game of football.
Who doesn’t love a good underdog story? As you can guess, it’s hysterical
slapstick humor and sheer silliness of epic proportion. In true Wallace
and Gromit fashion, Aardman animation create a movie with an underlying
sweetness that makes the audience fall in love with such delightful
characters.
Featuring an all-star British voice cast featuring Tom
Hiddleston, Maisie Williams, Tom Redmayne, and Timothy Spall, Early Man may
not be your typical run of the mill bright, boisterous, tug at the
heartstrings type of movie, but it definitely provides enough physical
comedy to keep the audience laughing and a great message about teamwork and
learning to coexist.

AT (1676 KP) rated The Warehouse in Books
Mar 14, 2020 (Updated Mar 14, 2020)
I didn't love The Warehouse. It was fine, but I hated the end. Not the actual ending, itself, but what was solved. First of all, I was concerned when I reached the halfway point in the book, and not much had happened, and it didn't seem like anyone was going to get to what they were searching for anytime soon. It's difficult to wrap up a novel with less than half of the book left when there is a big unknown lingering around. I think the book either could have stood to be even longer for better explanation, or at least not seem like it was being wrapped up quickly with random details. I felt like it was wrapped up with sudden major, unrelatable situations, just to put an end to the story. I guess it's personal preference. I just think I would've enjoyed it more had the ending had different details. I don't want to give a spoiler, so I don't want to say what the details were that I didn't love, but if you read it, you'll know what I mean. Maybe you'll like it, though. I still gave it a 7, because I don't think it deserves a bomb at 6. I just didn't love the end. The story, itself, was a smooth, easy read, at least. It was fine for me up until a certain point. Interesting environment, that's for sure.

Touch ( selfish Myths book 1)
By Natalia Jester
Once read a review will be written via Smashbomb and link posted in comments
A mortal outcast, a mythical goddess, and a forbidden desire that defies the laws of magic.
They say I'm a celestial bad girl. But they're wrong--I'm far worse.
My name is Love. I spend my immortal years hunting within a frosted forest, matching human hearts with each mischievous strike of my arrow.
But in all my centuries, I've never known desire--until now.
He's a mortal. And the longer I'm with him, the more I crave his touch.
Yet binding myself to this human is forbidden. Without a doubt, it's fatal.
When I discover that he possesses abilities beyond his knowledge--a force strong enough to eradicate my kind--I have to make a choice.
One, destroy him before he destroys my race.
Or two, contain his magic by sealing his heart with someone else's.
This was a strange read but strange in a good way I think. It was a sweet story of love finding love for herself. I loved the interaction with the other emotional gods they certainly all have a story. I just can’t put my finger on what was so odd about the book I’m certainly interested in reading more by this author. For now this would be 3 stars for me.

Moonrise by Sarah Crossan
Having discovered Sarah Crossan and the style of writing in verse earlier this year, I was keen to read her latest book. Moonrise is told from the point of view of Joe. His brother Ed is on death row in Texas for murdering a policeman and the story starts as the date of execution is set.
I love the medium of verse as a writing tool – Crossan is able to convey emotions and tell a story in far less words than a conventional novel. The topic of the death penalty is interesting and thought provoking and its perfectly pitched for the young adult audience it is aimed at (but is also of interest to adults too).
If you fancy something a bit different, I would recommend this or any of Crossan’s books wholeheartedly.

Hmmmm i dont know how i feel about this story yet.
This starts off with a determined Med student Meg who is dealing with the loss of her sister, going to a party for the 1st time after her sisters death.
There is where she happens to walk in on Miles, the lead singer of one of her favorite bands.
Neither of them have the time or patience to deal with relationship so they go for the next best thing-no stings attached sex.
I think this story was longer than it needed to be bu brought in some very hard hitting issues.
I wasnt to in love with the relationship aspect and the main character did frustrate me towards the end on how easily she fell back in the sack with him. But this was very enjoyable for what it was.
