This is a fast-paced novella, with the situation between Asher and Niko happening over a very short amount of time. Of course, when you're a vampire, you kind of know what you want ;) Still, these guys worked pretty fast! Not only do they have time together, but they need to help clear Niko's cousin, Mario, from murder charges. He didn't murder anyone, but he was stupid. He had played close to the fire a few too many times, and this time ended up being burnt. I would love to know if Mario is one of the future couples in this series.
On the whole, it was written well, so long as you can keep up with the speedy pace and plot line. This was a good short story, and I look forward to reading more in this series.
* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and my comments here are my honest opinion. *

I was really intrigued by Chris/Kit and J.X.'s history together. Why were they so hostile to each other? It was slowly explained throughout and I kind of melted reading about their three nights together all those years ago and the feelings involved. Awww...
There was one scene fairly early on between them that made me all warm and fuzzy, until it was over and then I wanted to smack someone--mainly J.X.
As for the murder mystery, I would never have figured it out. I knew it was a man, and not Chris/Kit so was left with three possibilities. I didn't want to think it was J.X. either so that left two but then I was completely stumped.
I'm now going onto book 2 so I can read more of these two!

Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated Gaming for Keeps (Agents of TRAIT #1) in Books

I read a book for the romance, which Im sure Ive mentioned before somewhere, and I enjoyed the spark the characters had. The way they dont realise they know each other (even if it is through a game) but are drawn to each other right from the first contact. They clicked right away and theres a scene involving a shower which made me smile.
I did enjoy it; Pen was hands on when it came to defending herself and Cal being slightly geeky made a change to the usual books I read where theyre attractive, tattooed and arrogant.
Its definitely for those who enjoy comics, online-gaming, cosplay and conventions.
