An opulent and striking exploration of the oppressive nature of the male gaze, The Handmaiden does feel like it runs about 20 minutes too long, but honestly, the film’s finale is so wickedly satisfying that I didn’t mind Chan-Wook taking a bit longer

this is a fantastic standalone sexy, romantic book. you will definitely enjoy reading this book as much as I did. this book has a fantastic strong female characters which is brilliantly written and then a fantastic swoon worthy male characters, mix is brilliant. I loved the story and couldnt put it down till I had finished it. a fab summer read book.

This is such a good story to read. This book is the perfect mix of entertaining story and slow burn romance. The characters are perfect, a swoon worthy alpha male meets a strong female. This is a second chance romance read. This book will leave you with a book hang over. I can't wait to read more from this author in the future.

Well this doesn't seem to be too popular. I can see why, I found it ok but far from great or laugh out loud funny. One that plays on the male/female relationship during an usual setting and events. Seems a popular choice of idea with The Killers, Knight and Day also out this year. However for a Rom-com The ugly truth was way better and for more action go for Knight and day.

Great insight.

A great insight into the early days of Jane Tennison. As I watched the episodes of Prime Suspect when I was younger (and watching again now) I looked forward to watching this and I was not disappointed. An awesome series showing Jane's struggles to be identified as a great detective in a predominately male role.
Enjoyed it so much I have started watching Prime Suspect from the very beginning again.

"What struck me about this novel, which is the story of an affair between two people, is the unusual way Roth tells the story — devoid of any description, stripped down to the dialogue alone. At times you aren't clear on who is speaking. His male characters are all so unsympathetic, brutal even, but vivid and charismatic and engaging. I don't necessarily like them, but I feel intimate with them. That's quite an achievement."
