Buffy meets Mills & Boon
Another nocturne short read from Mills & Boon (Silhouette). Think Buffy the Vampire Slayer style vampire hunters, combating some nasty vampires set on taking over the world, one business at a time.
The characters are well developed, and the plot is well written. Again I very much enjoyed reading this as a break between heavier novels.
With some naughty scenes, a sassy female and a strong male lead. Michael comes from a line of vampire hunters, with some additional strength as a buy product of a relative turned vampire, overcoming his vampiric affliction. Having lost a past love to the vampires, he was reluctant to fall for Jessie... but love overcomes all.

Vibrant Spanish melodrama does a remarkable job of walking a tightrope, managing to be both outrageous and provocative, and restrained and moving, often at the same time. Written down in precis, the plot - or at least the cast of characters - sounds utterly bizarre, and the fact the film doesn't really have an unambiguously male main character probably signifies this will not be to all tastes.

However, the story is engrossing, genuinely moving, and slickly made with strong performances - to the extent that you overlook the plot's tendency towards implausible coincidences and improbable and arbitrary developments. At the very end things do become a bit unravelled, but not enough to spoil what is an impressive and satisfying film.

Man, the Beta Male has some problems. Charlie Asher suddenly finds himself a widower with a newborn child. If that wasn't enough change in his life, he finds out that he has a new job: Death.
A book about grief, and processing death, Moore's supernatural take on the human soul is unique.
It does drop more F-bombs then I was prepared for; although I'm not sure why since he tends to curse quite often in the other books I've read and I would do the same if I ever found myself in that position.
This book is full of humor and wit, it is also more melancholy as well.

Exquisite Corpse is a series of interconnected vignettes about some of the women in the Surrealist art movement. They were largely overshadowed by the men in their group, and many started off as their lovers, girlfriends, wives and muses. But many were artists in their own rights. They were non-conformists, rebellious, resistance fighters, and they were all less well-known than their male counterparts.
There are examples of their works throughout the novel, and these pieces of art along with their stories, no matter how short, encouraged me to go and look for more information and art.
Many thanks to The Pigeonhole and the author for the serialisation. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
