THAT is how you make a film!
Okay, I know what you are going to say... "Marvel, its okay for us to go 30 seconds without laughing" But DAM! This is how you make a movie! There is so much more to it than just the humor, which is just the right amount of silly, cheesy, perfectly timed.
I just love the 80s vibes, it's done to perfection, form soundtrack to colour palet to end credits it is a wonderful blend of Nors awesomeness and Back to the Future mixed with a little Sat Wars.
Can not get enough of this one, defo in my top 5 Marvel films. Oh Deadpool, you know you my guy 😘

The latest 9at the time of writing) of Marvel's post-blip TV shows, and the last to be aired in 2021, finally giving one of the OG Avengers who was oft-overlooked in the mainline movies a bit of his own agency and character development.

Released in late November and running through to December, there is a definite Christmassy feel to this one, which the series leans heavily into: indeed, getting home in time to spend Christmas with his family is one of the drivers of the plot.

This also sees the return of certain characters from the mainline movies tied to the former Black Widow, as well as - finally! - introducing character who made their live-action debut in the Netflix Marvel TV show of Daredevil (shows whose canonicity is now dubious).

Oh, and there's no end or mid credits scenes in this at all until the very last episode.

Which has, perhaps, the best such scene Marvel has ever produced.

Great action scenes

Main plot line isn't that great
Something a little different
Well after Spider-Man No way home I had very high hopes for this and really enjoyed the first Dr Strange film.
Following closely on from No way home as more about the multi verse is discovered. With Sam Raimi directing there are some nice Horror theme touches throughout the film. So making this a bit different to the normal Marvel fare. I was a bit surprised at the plot direction of the main story, having not seen Wanda Vision series. I imagine that would fill in a lot of gaps before seeing this. There are plenty of nice surprises through the various Multiverses.
Still it has amazing visuals and action scenes as you expect from Marvel filling out the blockbuster standard you expect. Definitely one to see on the big screen.

I'm sorry to say this, but - to me, at least - it feels like Marvel has been on something of a decline ever since 'Avengers: Endgame', with none of the Disney+ TV series (all of which have been unique in their format, at least), really 'sticking the landing'.

I could probably best describe this by the 6 words I heard my mum (who doesn't really watch any of the Marvel stuff) say when she saw a bit of an episode of this:

"What on earth is this rubbish?"

While, personally, that was maybe a bit strong for me - I wouldn't go quite as far as calling it rubbish - it does more-or-less reflect my feelings on the show: for a (supposed) sit-com, there's very little funny in it, with what comedy there is being painful to watch rather than amusing.

Does bring Charlie Cox's Daredevil back into the fold, though (eventually), and really REALLY leans heavily into trolling its own fans ...

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania (2023)

Maybe I'm just starting to get a bit burned out on the relentless release pace of the MCU, but - for me- I feel like it's been on a bit of a downward trend since the end of the Infinity Stones Saga (with Avengers: Endgame)

I also miss the somewhat-heightened reality of the earlier Marvel movies: like the original Iron Man, say, or even The Winter Soldier.

The reason I say that?

Because this takes place, almost exclusively, in the quantum realm first mentioned in the original Ant-Man, really only being book-ended by the 'real' world.

This is also - or so I've read - the first in what is termed as Marvel Phase 5, introducing (for any who didn't make it to the end of the Loki TV show!) the next big bad, in the form of Jonathan Major's Kang the Conqueror (who steals pretty much every scene he is in here)

Grand Theft Auto V on the Playstation 4 is a no-brainer, just as easy as the decision to get your favorite movie on Blu-ray. With this latest version, Rockstar’s latest game is no longer just a masterpiece. It’s now a state-of-the-art technical marvel.

Marvel at its worst
Oh boy this show was a crap shoot. Poorly written, poorly acted, horrible cliche story, and the effects were laughable. I rarely ever struggle to get through any TV shows, but this one was painful. If I didn't write a blog on it I would have turned off half way through the second episode. For a full review check out my blog.

Samuel Byrne (31 KP) Apr 23, 2017

Yes, I agree, Sabretooth would have be a cool addition but in terms of the Comic Vs. The Movie, they actually couldn't use a lot of the information, characters and plot because it revolved around property not owned by Fox. I feel, for the film they made, with the storybthey developed based on aspects from the Old Man Logan Comic, they did something spectacular!

A decent entry bringing Spiderman into the Marvel universe
A good film with some big action scenes and Michael Keaton does well as the villian. Ties in nicely with the Avengers films but maybe had too many references to them. I still prefer the first Spiderman film (2002) but this a good film overall.
