Heathski (173 KP) rated She-Ra And The Princesses of Power in TV
May 16, 2019
Surprisingly addictive
I saw it advetised on netflix and thought OMG really..... and pased it by. Then one night I was looking for something to watch and thought I'd check it out for a laugh. If you like cartoons, its actually pretty decent. I remember the original and this is not quite the same. I like the backstory with Catra and Adora. (I always had a soft spot for Catra when I was little) Adora reminds me of everything I liked about the character of Captain Marvel, both are very similar.
I have to say I really enjoyed it and laughed out loud in places. I ran out of episodes last night and im not happy haha.

Movie Metropolis (309 KP) rated The Incredible Hulk (2008) in Movies
Jun 10, 2019
A lot of people forget this film is even part of the MCU, I do as well! And there’s a reason for this. Louis Letterier’s version of the great green behemoth is a decent film in its own right, but a little bit boring and nondescript.
Edward Norton and Liv Tyler are fine, if lacking a little in any on-screen chemistry and the story really disappoints. The special effects too, whilst better than Ang Lee’s Hulk, just aren’t up to scratch, especially considering Iron Man was released just two months earlier. This film threatened to derail the MCU before it had even got going. Thankfully that wasn’t the case.

Movie Metropolis (309 KP) rated Iron Man 3 (2013) in Movies
Jun 10, 2019
Shane Black’s take on Iron Man 3 angered and delighted fans in equal measure. Which camp you belong to mostly depends on how you feel Black handled the film’s main villain; The Mandarin.
In my opinion, Ben Kingsley’s portrayal of the iconic badass was a little wasted. The revelation that The Mandarin was a character created by Guy Pearce’s Aldrich Killian creates yet another poor MCU villain. Had Kingsley indeed been the real Mandarin, he could’ve rivalled Loki for MCU villain supremacy. As it stands, Iron Man 3 is a brave film and that in itself means it should be applauded. It also has a great finale and beautiful cinematography.

Kyera (8 KP) rated The King's Locket in Books
Feb 1, 2018
The King's Locket is a lovely story about family and forgiveness. Throughout the short text, there are illustrations of important moments that children can marvel at. This is a book that a parent would need to read to their child, as there are some words that would be challenging for younger readers and require explanation. Overall, it was a cute story and I would definitely read it to my younger cousin when I babysit for her. I think she would enjoy the tale very much. I would probably rate it a 4.5/5 mostly because a child couldn't read it by themselves (although nightly reading to a child is important) thus it felt a little above a child's level at times.

Great Action, Watch for Emotions
My son and I watched Avengers: Infinity War tonight. There were a few good laugh-out-loud moments mixed in with all the action and seriousness of the war. I shed a few tears at the end (of course). I have to admit that I have not watched all the Marvel movies and so a few of the characters were hard for me to identify, but this did not detract from the story. A few things would have made more sense had I watched the other movies leading up to this.
It is okay for children, my 9 year old understood what was going on and why parts were sad. He handled it well.

David McK (3372 KP) rated Star Wars: Captain Phasma in Books
Jan 28, 2019
Lead-in comic mini-series to "The Last Jedi", following Captain Phasma's disappointing showing (i.e didn't do much, then got sent down a garbage chute) in "The Force Awakens".
This, effectively, is about how she covers her failings and works her way back into The First Order, covering her tracks and using another escapee from the now-explodeed StarKiller base as her fall guy.
While the art - like all the recent Marvel Star Wars issues - is good, the story, however, leaves a lot to be desired: there's nothing really memorable about this, now real 'wow' moment (like there was in '[b:Vader Down|27247275|Vader Down (Star Wars)|Jason Aaron|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1462909901s/27247275.jpg|47296344]';) to make it stick in the mind.
In short: forgettable.
