Molly J (Cover To Cover Cafe) (106 KP) rated A Seat by the Hearth in Books
Feb 27, 2019
Mark and Priscilla had to endure an "arranged" marriage but they didn't let that stop them from making the best of it, and learning about one another. Their pasts catch up to them, they learn a lot about what it means to wholly accept oneself, and they learn that there will always be a seat by the hearth for each other to continue their journey in life as not just friends, but as an actual couple.
This book is filled with ups, downs, hope and understanding. Amy Clipston's trademark messages of acceptance and love are woven perfectly through out this incredible journey. God is definitely working on Mark and Priscilla within these pages and I won't soon forget them! They are on my keeper shelf to stay. Mark's play boy ways, and Priscilla's uneasiness are over come by the true love of friendship. Definitely a 5 star worthy novel in this reader's honest opinion! I can't wait for another beautifully chiseled novel from this talented author!

Zach and Shauna are two beautifully chiseled, heart capturing characters. They both come to life among the pages of this novel. Their stories are heart wrenching, and bittersweet. Both suffered a loss, both need each other, even if Shauna doesn't want to trust Zach. When things take a twistful turn, it's edge of your seat and late night reading, trying to see what Ms. Coble has in store for her characters.
Ms. Coble has created a story that is romantic, suspenseful, and inspirational. All things of which make a fantabulous read! Her style is unique, her words wrap you up and keep you hooked until the last page is turned, and the gentle messages from God are entwined with the stories of Zach and Shauna.
This is definitely a book that I will be recommending to all with 4 star praises. It's beautifully moving, and a wonderful start to what's sure to be a hit among her fans! Well done, Ms. Coble!

What would you feel like if everything you ever believed in was ripped away in one tragic instant? That's what Luke battles and I was so angry with him for so long in this book! I found myself on more than one occasion wanting to throw the book across the room. But, in trademark Kingsbury fashion, she weaved messages of hope, forgiveness, understanding and acceptance into her pages, and it wrapped me up instantly. Luke's story is a powerful one and I will forever love it.
This book should be able to get more than a simple 5 star rating. This book is emotional, utterly raw and absolutely breathtaking. The characters are now your family, the lessons are yours. All of it wrap up to make one unforgettable novel in a sweep-you-off-your-feet series. Ms. Kingsbury's shelf is graced with Luke's story and when someone asks me my favorites, his will always be one of the first to slip off the shelf. Well done, once again, on another amazing addition to this incredible family story.

The characters within this book are perfectly chiseled. They are real-to-life and complexly portrayed in this thriller. Nikki, Erika, Tyler and the other secondary characters really pulled me into the heart of the story with them. Every fast paced move, every heart pounding scene truly came to life for me. I loved that!
Ms. Harris had me on the edge of the my seat through this whole book. I read it in one intense sitting! That is how a book is written, that's for sure. She added the perfect amount of messages from God and kept the story line flowing. This story is filled with hope and trusting in Him. You need both in today's world!
While this is not the first book in this series, it wasn't hard to get acquainted with the characters and their stories. But, I will for sure be checking out the first two books in the series as well as looking forward to the next installment! Ms. Harris, you are truly, superbly talented and I give this book a whopping 5 star praise and roof-top-shouting recommendations. This review was originally posted on Cafinated Reads

I absolutely adored Alastair. I’m not a fan of birds, but it they were all like Alastair I would have a dozen! I loved his curmudgeon quirkiness, and his ability to pull you into the story, along with his sister Aggie. His poetry was awesome and captivating! And, Fritz. Let me tell you what. I saw a lot of my own kiddos in Fritz. He was just lovable. And, Bertie! The perfect “grandma” for the story. I loved her laugh-out-loud moments in the story.
This debut novel by the amazingly talented Cory Leonardo is one that should be on every young reader’s shelves. It’s filled with life lessons, lots of laughter, characters who will become friends, and lots of fun. If you have a younger reader, age 8 and up, I would definitely recommend you get this for them. It’s worthy of 4 stars, for sure! Great job on your debut, Leonardo!

In "Succulent," you guide a nice fellow as he deepthroats a popsicle. You win when it melts! (We all do.)
"Stick Shift" was my favorite game. You "stimulate" a car by shifting gears. The face of the driver is hilarious. The aim of the game is to get the car into its final gear, but it's tricky. The further you go, the easier it is to stall out. If you stall out enough, you get pulled over. If you get pulled over, you are automatically locked out of the game for ten minutes--unless you make kissy-faces at the cops, which I did. Each kiss adds ten minutes to your lock-out. I think I still have like, two hours left before I can play again. The same thing can happen in "Hurt Me Plenty" if you hit your partner too much or after he says his safe word.
These games are amusing, but they're not meant to have long term playability. It's a free game, so it's not as though you're not getting what you paid for.
