Received this as part of an instagram book group. I'm glad I didnt spend money on it, not my cup of tea at all.

I found the main character petulant, frustrating and annoying. The story is slow and could do with some better snippets to liven it up. The only reason I really kept reading was to find out if he does actually find her.

Felt the overall premise was quite creepy.

"L’Atalante from Jean Vigo. I discovered this film when I started to have growing interest in movies. That movie is from the 1930s. It was shot with very little money, and the director was sick. I mean, it’s pure poetry. This movie, it’s a very simple story, and you have Michel Simon, who plays an amazing character. It’s just a great combination of a vision that’s close to surrealism and a Grecian film look. It’s extremely touching."

Say Who You Are
Honest Thief- is a good crime action thriller. It has a good cast and a good plot.

The plot: Hoping to cut a deal, a professional bank robber agrees to return all the money he stole in exchange for a reduced sentence. But when two FBI agents set him up for murder, he must now go on the run to clear his name and bring them to justice.

I do recordmend watching this film.

"If you haven’t read Trollope, this is a good place to begin. Along with Can You Forgive Her?, The Eustace Diamonds is among the most delicious and contemporary of Trollope’s Palliser novels, and like any great classic, it’s crammed to bursting with characters who are remarkably like people you know. Well, maybe you don’t know anyone like Lizzie Eustace—a young woman who cares more about money and jewels than anything else—but I’m afraid I do."

"Charles Laughton’s only film as director, scripted by James Agee from the book by Davis Grubb. It’s a fairy-tale version of a crime-suspense drama, as two children are pursued through a magical, haunted landscape by a demented yet canny preacher (Robert Mitchum). There’s a grown-up story about a stash of stolen money, but Laughton’s masterstroke is to ignore that and present the human monster from the children’s point of view, as a remorseless bogeyman."

"Perhaps the noirest of noir films, and for my money one of the three best American films of the postwar period (the others being Some Like It Hot and Sunset Boulevard). Featuring amazing performances from Burt Lancaster and Tony Curtis, and a knife-edge bitterness rare in any Hollywood film, it is at once a tribute to nighttime New York City and a devastating portrait of the power of a big-time columnist like Walter Winchell."

"After our son Walker couch-surfed in Rio last year, we felt obliged to take in one of the Brazilian friends he met. She brought a copy of Sebastião Salgado’s beautiful but expensive book Genesis. We felt bad because she doesn’t have a lot of money and also because it is in Portuguese. However, 95% of the book consists of Salgado’s brilliant photographs, which need no translation. It seems that the people with the least often give the most."

I had enough reward points for a free movie last night, so figured I'd give Godzilla a chance. Let's just say I'm glad I didn't spend money to see it. They say the bigger they are the harder they fall, and this one fell pretty damn hard for me. To be fair though, I've never been a huge Godzilla fan, more of a King Kong guy, so I am kinda looking forward to Kong vs Godzilla.
