Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2099 KP) rated Mr. Monk on Patrol (Mr. Monk, #13) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Monk and Natalie are off to Summit, New Jersey, to help new police chief Randy Disher gain a handle on the string of burglaries plaguing the normally quiet town. This book is an absolute treat for fans of the TV show and Lee's novels based on them because of what he does with the characters.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2099 KP) rated Mr. Monk in Trouble (Mr. Monk, #9) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
When a former SFPD cop is murdered in a former gold rush town, Monk reluctantly heads up there to find the killer. Along the way, he and Natalie make an interesting discovery about an ancestor. The passages from the past combine quite well with the modern mystery, making this another fun book for fans who are missing the show.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2099 KP) rated Mr. Monk on the Road in Books
Mar 9, 2018
The mystery felt forced into the story, but the characters were wonderful with lots of laughs.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2099 KP) rated Mr. Monk is a Mess (Mr. Monk, #14) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Monk and Natalie return from New Jersey to find a dead woman in Natalie's bathtub. Then Monk's brother wants them to track down his missing girlfriend. Can they do it? As always, the plots are fun and really take advantage of Monk's abilities. However, it's what Lee does with the characters that really makes them shine. It's an outgrowth of the last few books and is what I am going to miss most after the last one of these comes out next year.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2099 KP) rated Mr. Monk Is Open For Business (Mr. Monk, #18) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Before Natalie and Monk can have an official grand opening for their new PI business, they wind up with two cases. First, there's the murder suspect who won't explain why he was moving a body in a vacant field. Then there's the mass shooter who vanished despite being surrounded by police.
Both of these mysteries are great and kept me engaged the entire way through. The characters and their growth are wonder as well, and the humor had me grinning when I wasn't outright laughing. Fans of the series will love it.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2099 KP) rated Mr. Monk Helps Himself (Mr. Monk #16) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Natalie's new self-help guru commits suicide in the middle of a public event, but she's convinced it is murder. Meanwhile, Monk is hired to find the killer of a clown, one of his top 100 phobias. This is going to be the biggest test of their new partnership.
This is the first tie in novel not written by Lee Goldberg, but since Hy was a writer on the show, he already knows the characters. He's picked up from where Lee left off, and fans of the show and the books will love it. Laughs, good mysteries, and great characters.
