Great author, the Bugman series are the best! The characters are funny and interesting. Great murder mystery books, also a bit gross, which I like. I wish Tim Downs was still writing books, he's a great writer.

With trying to juggle working at two restaurants, Sally doesn’t have time for anything else in her life, yet when her friend Eric tells her that his community chorus is doing Mozart’s Requiem, she tries out. Kyle, the lead for the tenors, is snarky to everyone at the auditions, but it is a surprise to everyone when his body is found during the first rehearsal. The police think it was an accident, but Sally isn’t so sure. When Kyle’s girlfriend asks Sally to look into it, she starts to find plenty of motives for murder. But was it really murder?

While Sally’s motive for looking into the murder is a little weak, the rest of the book is strong. We get plenty of motives and strong suspects. I thought I had everything figured out early, but by the end I was questioning myself. The returning characters are a lot of fun, especially Sally and Eric, who we got to know even better here.

NOTE: I received an ARC of this book.

Hannah Swensen is getting married in just a few weeks, but first she has the dessert competition that her sisters signed her up for. It turns out this televised competition is anything but sweet when the backstage tension leads to murder. Can Hannah solve the case before she gets married?

The baking competition allowed food to be brought into the book seamlessly, and the competition itself was plenty of fun. It’s always great to revisit the characters, too. The murder takes a back seat early on, but it gets plenty of focus as we rush toward the ending. I do hope the wedding sticks because, while it was rushed, I do love the potential I see in this character and relationship.

November Criminals (2017) | TRAILER

A pair of college bound friends (Chloë Grace Moretz and Ansel Elgort) find themselves falling for one another, but after the mysterious murder of their classmate they defy the authorities to uncover the truth.

Lucky Jamieson is trying to figure out what to do with the soup restaurant she inherited from her parents. But when the cook is arrested for murder, she has to figure out who really did it before she loses everything.

I liked the characters and I wanted to like this book. But overall it just felt like it moved very slowly. It needed more clues, red herrings, and twists along the way.

Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez
Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez
2020 | Crime, Documentary
I have mixed feelings about this documentary, well, mostly, about Aaron Hernandez. The series was fairly well balanced until the end, when people began providing reasons to excuse his behavior.
1) There are plenty of people who are closeted that don't murder people...
and
2) There are also many football players that have the same brain condition... and they don't go out and murder people.

Dude was obviously a psychopath, and I feel bad for his family, but I have zero sympathy for him. The last ep totally just... ruined it for me.

Very interesting idea and movie technique used here that may require repeat viewing, the story is somewhat simple however turns by the talented cast carry this murder mystery to another level, Pierce is very good here as the amnesiac.
