Charlotte (184 KP) rated A Mirror Murder (Jan Christopher Mysteries #1) in Books

It's all cracking off in 1970's London!
I love Jan, she's interesting and a pretty relatable character. She takes things in her stride and isn't from the conventional housewife mould.
A Mirror Murder is well written with a great description of how London looked and the particular aromas the city had back in the 1970's...... basically grim. It does make a good backdrop for murder and budding romance though.
Perfect for an afternoon read and the best part is that it's the start of a series, I do love a series! Even more so when there's already a few more ready to read so there's no waiting for the next fix.

Ok
A rather too complex story which begins as a double murder investigation but ends up more about a fraud involving some psychologists. It was alright but at 497 pages it's a book that could have been shortened by at least 100 pages and would have turned out punchier and better to read.
Flowerpower (154 KP) rated Mississippi Blood in Books

Extensive probe into racial hatred, murder and racial violence existing in the era. (2 more)
Superbly written and there's no holding back with the violence and language.
Incredibly good read, but it's a painful journey of life at that time.
This is an intricate story, reaching back through the generations of civil rights - gritty indeed.
Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2165 KP) rated The Dead Letter (Diagnosis Murder, #6) in Books

Dr. Sloan finds himself looking into the death of a shady PI. The characters are still strong and the plot is wonderfully twisty. Fan of the show or not, you'll like this book.

I wouldn't watch it again.

They tell the audience erlier than expected who murder the father. Though it may help with the confusion I felt more confused for the second half of the movie. Just as to why the movie needed to be as long as it was.
