"Alan Price is definitely someone my parents introduced me to, it's one of those stories like, "Your father took me out on a date to O Lucky Man! and I knew he was cool", but then in high school I had the required Malcolm McDowell obsession - all rebellious and of course once you've watched Clockwork Orange you've got to go back to if...., and I'm pretty sure that O Lucky Man! is the continuation of the same character from if.... and it's just one of those great modern fables. I'm surprised people aren't as into it. If you watch that opening scene in black and white, it's kind of the same over the top kangaroo court scene that we were trying to get in the Break Line song 'I'm To Blame'. The silent scene in the movie is brutal but it's also ridiculous and over the top. Malcolm McDowell has a giant moustache, he's like a South American coffee picker - he's caught stealing coffee beans and they go to his trial and this disgusting judge smoking a cigar, drooling, sentences him to getting his hands chopped off; it's very extreme and it just flashes "GUILTY. GUILTY. GUILTY" and we do that in our song with everyone saying "guilty", it's a little O Lucky Man! homage. The line in that song, "In case of murder in the second degree/ The jury now all agrees guilty/ So you will hang, hang by the noose" and my friend's dad said you don't get hanged for murder in the second degree, but we need that "murder in the second de-gree", that extra syllable!"

Excellent series telling the story of what did, didn't, might have, might not have happened when a young, clean living college student meets a self-destructive young girl and wakes up next to her dead body. Some poor split second decisions lead to him being locked up for her murder and the prosecution begins. Seeing how the main character changes after being wrongly (?) imprisoned even before the court case gets moving has been done before but not with this much intensity and emotion. Truly excellent.

I cannot put into words how much I loved and hated this movie. The cast is absolutely amazing. The graphics are amazing. If my father were still alive he would have had his mind blown by this flick. The only negative thing I can say about this movie is that it broke my heart into a thousand little pieces. I loathe cliffhangers and waiting for the second part of this movie is going to be murder.

He Holds my Hand is a 365-day devotional written by Carol Kent during a period in her life when her world was turned upside down. After learning her only son was arrested for murder, she turned to God and her Bible to find comfort. The result of all her praying and meditating is found in this wonderful devotional.
The devotional is splendidly written; under each day it begins with a quote followed byCarol's writings and then you find scripture to follow up the writings.

Meg is in charge of the yearly Christmas, I mean Holiday, parade. As if trying to keep the people from irritating each other isn't enough, someone kills Santa. The book starts off with plenty of laughs but it moves into more serious matters as the murder takes center stage. I did figure things out fairly early, but I was having so much fun I didn't care.

Josie Prescott is hoping that hosting a benefit auction fundraiser will help her antique business. But when someone is poisoned during the auction, Josie becomes involved in a second murder instead. Even worse, the police think she might have been the target. It took me a little while to get into the book, but the story was good and the characters are strong.

Rebecca Robbins has returned to her small home town just long enough to sell her mother's roller rink. But when the town handy man is found murdered in the women's bathroom, she realizes she needs to get his murder solved quickly since no one is interested in it. A typical cozy series debut, but I really enjoyed the characters and found the story fun.

While Steve and Mark vacation in Hawaii, Mark meets a local who is then killed by a shark. Except Mark doesn't think it was a real shark attack when he gets a good look at the body. Can they stop the killer from striking again? The plot is brilliant and the characters are spot on. My only complaint is that Amanda and Jesse become minor characters.
