SummerLGrant (185 KP) rated Marvel's Jessica Jones - Season 1 in TV

Another brilliant Marvel TV series
Jessica Jones follows Daredevil as another Netflix original about a non-mainstream Marvel superhero. It also follows the same path that brings out the dark and gritty side of the Marvel universe. Not everything is black and white here, there's a lot of grey area and as a result the series poses a lot of questions you wouldn't get in the films.
Krysten Ritter is brilliant as Jones and is supported by a brilliant cast that includes David Tennant as the increasingly disturbing Kilgrave.

A different Horror trip
I've been wanting to see this for quite a while, so glad it showed up on Netflix and appears to be made by them as well.
It's definitely one that likes to build on tension and how the characters react to their surroundings. More in common with the Descent than Blair Witch for me, which is a good thing. The ending was a bit abrupt but it least it gave some explanation of what was going on. Top marks for being a bit different to most horror films relying on jump scares.

When I saw on instagram that The Lonely Island surprise released something on Netflix, I was kind of glad I was sick today. It's visual poetry about Mark 'McGwire' and Jose 'Canseco', mostly featuring doping. Apparently, it was supposed to somewhat resemble Beyonce's Lemonade, which I've never seen because I can't stand Beyonce.
The songs are solid Lonely Island songs, absurd and crude, as always, but hilarious. The cameos were good too, Sterling K. Brown played Sia in one song, and there were SNL and B99 actors throughout. Overall, not a bad 30 minutes for a The Lonely Island fan.

This film was based on the novel of the same name by Dean Koontz. I haven't read the novel, so I can't properly judge it on how good of an adaption it was.
Honestly, the only reason I watched this movie was because I was chilling with a friend a few years ago, and we saw a movie with Anton Yelchin in it on Netflix or something (she'd met him twice, I'm still super jealous). It was definitely an entertaining, quick-moving paranormal flick that I immediately fell in love with and purchased a few days after I saw it.

We use Netflix a lot. It has a lot if movies and shows to choose from. The biggest downside for me is the limit of streaming to 4 devices at a time. I have a large family, so obviously there are times when we all want to watch something different, but it limits us to how many of use can use it. My kids also get irritated when their favorites are removed from streaming to make room for new selections. Wish there was a way to keep more of their favorites available to them.

Strange
Found this one on Netflix. Strange movie with Scarlett Johanson playing a woman who likes men to a place where their bodies are consumed by a strange black goo. She starts to realize there's something different about herself and goes on a trip to figure it out. Quite a bit of nudity(full frontal- metal and female) so I wouldn't say it's something for the kids. The acting was pretty decent and everything else was adequate. The story unfolds a little slowly but if you're into sci-fi it'll keep your attention. Worth a watch.

Found this one on Netflix. It stars Ryan Reynolds, Scott Speedman and Rosario Dawson. It's a movie about a couple whose daughter is kidnapped by a group of people who like to watch children online being abused. The game her for 8yrs and use her to lure other children online to meet them. This movie is an excellent crime drama. They don't show anything graphic but there's mild violence and cursing. I would say kids could watch this to see the dangers of meeting strangers on line. All around the acting, cinematography and storyline are great. This one is really worth a watch!

Watched this movie on Netflix starring Tom Hardy(Mad Max:Fury Road). It takes place entirely in his car on a 90 minute ride. He's made a choice that cost him pretty much his whole life and it all happens during this ride. He really showed his acting chops in this one. Everything happens through a series of phone calls between him and several people in his life. Takes place in England. It's all done pretty well and, though it's an odd piece of work, it keeps your interest. Turns out a little sad but worth a watch.

This is a Netflix original "dark comedy" crime drama. The acting was good and the cinematography was too. It's a small town crime story involving a group of people that grew up together and knew each other well. It's told in a backwards style so the events happening are shown in reverse order. The story unfolds quite well and keeps your interest the whole time. It has a few laughs and a pretty good twist to the end that isn't too predictable. I liked this movie overall. Nothing too graphic for kids either. Worth a watch!
