2024 prequel, set in New York City, on the day that meteorites crash land on earth and the creatures that hunt by sound emerge.

It's amazing how quickly 'the rules' become known by the survivors of the initial impact, and by the military (flying helicopters over NYC, telling people to remain quiet ...).

And that's probably the biggest flaw with this movie, IMO, which follows terminally ill cancer patient Sam and a young stranger she meets in the aftermath of the impact, struggling to survive in this new paradigm.
