Better than the facebook app in general. Nice way to be able to quickly communicate. I do like the ability to use Chatheads. Now that Google has integrated a version of chatheads into the operating system I could see myself using this app much less. Time will tell

graveyardgremlin (7194 KP) rated Truly, Madly (Lucy Valentine, #1) in Books

TRULY, MADLY is mystery, romance, chick-lit and a bit of paranormal all wrapped up in one delightful little package. Lucy Valentine is a nice, normal, and a little bit quirky protagonist who never got on my nerves. It's nice to have a main character who isn't totally self-absorbed, ditzy, neurotic, clumsy and just plain irritating, basically just about every female you run across in lighter fiction books these days. All the other characters added to the story seamlessly and there wasn't one who was unnecessary. I enjoyed the psychic angle and thought that it was used in a fresh and interesting way. The plot was engaging and moved swiftly, and everything was well-written in an easy and smooth manner. I don't really have any major complaints and look forward to the next in the series.
The best word to use in describing this book is cute. So if you like cute, check it out, it's a nice piece of brain candy that won't offend your intelligence.

Kate (493 KP) rated The Christmas Invitation in Books

This was a good story and I like reading romances. There were quite a few similarities between the book and Cindrella. I'm not a massive fan when books use bits and pieces from other stories as it doesn't feel very original.
I was hooked from the first chapter and it got my attention. It also kept me entertained.
The book was well written and I got a feel for the characters and their voices.
The story made me smile and also made me sad in some parts which added to the book.
Any age could read this book but it maybe is for late teens - early twenties.
It was a really nice chistmassy book to read over the Christmas holidays.
I would definitely read a second book if there was one as it would be nice to see the next chapter in their lives.
I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author via Voracious Readers Only.

Well. That’s another holiday off the list.
That’s the problem when an author writes an attention-grabbing book, with a nice setting and not-so-nice events.
Lola, one of the dancers on a cruise ship, falls to her death over the side of the ship, and her brother Antonio is devastated. But then more things are revealed - and I don’t want to give any of them away!
This book has a dual timeline: we go back in time to find out more about the characters, and it gives the reader some idea of why they’ve behaved the way they have. I do like a dual timeline.
No-one’s blameless or particularly nice in this, and I did wonder if Antonio was actually in possession of all/ any of his faculties.
I’m not going to say anything else about the story. I will say that it was a gripping read with a lot of forehead-slapping moments, and a few “Oh my God”s! (It’s not just me that does this, is it?).
Very enjoyable!

Great cast (2 more)
Nice twists
Good mix of genres
If you go down to the bunker today, you're in for a surprise
A very good film, one of the best of last year. It has some good twists, just when you think you know what is going on something unexpected happens.

Lots of good ocean cinematography, nice underwater camerawork all around. Particularly love the claustrophobic way we’re drawn into the situation of these women.

This is one of my favorite books. I love the use of history, fantasy elements, and the characters are interesting. The author, Deborah Harkness, is so nice and well-spoken. I wish I would have gone to the university she lectures at so I could have taken one of her classes.
