A nice quick read. Such an easy story to get into and hard to put down. Although I read this after I’d watched the Netflix adaptation, it didn’t disappoint. Although very similar to start with, the last 50 or so pages are quite different. I will definitely be looking at continuing to read the series!

I'm not sure about this one. I liked some bits, didn't get others--like where the romance came into it. Fair enough they had some nice moments but others they were at each others throats. It made me cry a little near the end but other than that I wasn't entirely pulled into the story.

Stunningly animated and so refreshing to see a return to a more 2D style! Also nice to have a totally original story from a large studio, rather than an adaptation or straight sequel. This movie would be watchable for the animation alone, it's a massive bonus that the characters and plot pack a real punch.

It's county fair time in Rose Pedal, Texas, and stay at home dad Deuce Winters is helping with the 4H booth fundraiser. That's how he stumbles upon the body of George Spellman in the freezer. George was the grounds keeper of the fair and a nice guy. Who wanted him dead?
I love these characters and the humor in the series, so it is always nice to visit them. I didn't think the plot was quite as twisty as previous entries and I didn't care for the environmental lecture, but both of these were minor complaints. Overall, I enjoyed the book.

James Koppert (2698 KP) rated Downton Abbey (2019) in Movies

I wanted a touch more tragedy
Downton Abbey the TV series was incredible, I don't care how uncool people think i am for saying it. Its a spot on piece of British History with strong characters and a great cast.
The film in the same vein although was a little too nice. There was no undercurrent of darkness which stopped this getting full marks. The queen an King are coming to visit Downton along with their horrible staff who are trying to make preparations for the royal visit.
This movie is still wonderful and deserves props for highlighting the backwards thinking of homophobia and although a great film i was hoping for a little more.
