Erika (17789 KP) rated The Twelve Dates of Christmas in Books
Apr 15, 2021
I typically don't read these sorts of novels, romance novels are typically not my thing. However, I do love a not too mushy Christmas romance on occasion, and after reading In a Holidaze, I was still in the mood for something silly.
As with every romance novel, super predictable, you could tell what was going to happen by reading the plot synopsis. It was a nice, quick read and was what I needed at the time.

David McK (3649 KP) rated Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003) in Movies
Jul 25, 2021
Peter Weir's 2003 Napoleonic naval epic, based on the Aubrey/Maturin books by Patrick O'brien and starring a post-Gladiator Russel Crowe alongside a PRE-MCU Paul Bettany.
And, like the books, I found this to be quite slow and heavy going: nice visuals, definitely, and some tense moments, but the connective 'tissue' very drawn out and just, well, boring.
Hornblower this isn't.
Your mileage may vary on whether that is a good thing or not.

The Chocolate Lady (94 KP) rated Two Caravans in Books
Oct 7, 2020
In honor of my wedding anniversary, I thought I’d update one of my older reviews that I consider a classic love story. The one I picked is Marina Lewycka’s second novel “Two Caravans,” which American audiences you may know as “Strawberry Fields.” While this book isn’t quite as good as her debut novel, it certainly is fun! You can read my revised review on my blog here. https://tcl-bookreviews.com/2014/08/05/a-berry-nice-book/
Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated Choices (Choices, #1) in Books

I'm not sure what to think after reading this.
I found it hard to get into this to start with and Quincy's naïve attitude and thoughts really annoyed me at times. As for Brody, I liked him, though his behaviour wasn't always on the plus side. And as for Declan, he was a nice guy but there wasn't really a spark like there was with Brody.
I'm not sure I understood the ending either but oh, well.

Proper bad arse erotica
Andrew was the kind of guy who looks good, is good in bed but is a bit of a d***. Or he is to start with. But he grew on me. He just had to break our girls heart a time or two along the way. I don't entirely blame him for being how he was but come on! Be nice to the girl!
Nevertheless, he got there in the end and had their HEA.

CHILLFILTR (46 KP) rated Will We Ever Change? by Joel Levi in Music
Jul 11, 2019
This song feels like a moment of catharsis; it's a Ryan Adams meets Tom Petty vibe that it is all right with me, all night long.
“I know the sun will rise,
and we both can’t win.
I want to see you smile again”
— Joel Jevi
Perfect pop instinct, a nice dry mix, great songwriting and a fantastic attention to detail makes this song the lead track on our upcoming playlist CHILL NEW Songwriters Volume 1.

Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated Chasing Magic (Downside Ghosts, #5) in Books

Still in love with this series. It's completely different to anything else I've read, which is probably why I like it so much.
It's getting 5 stars for the romantic aspects of the story. Think it would only have been 4 stars if the romance hadn't gone up a level. I think they are a really nice couple and some of the scenes between them in this were almost heart-breaking.
Can't wait for book 6!

Ross (3284 KP) rated Here, My Dear by Marvin Gaye in Music
May 5, 2020 (Updated Apr 7, 2021)
Rolling Stone's 456th greatest album of all time (493rd in the 2020 list)
A nice but unusual collection of soul songs by Marvin Gaye. Anna's Song is a great typical soul song, but the likes of Funky Space Reincarnation are as odd as the name suggests. I think to get the most out of this album you need to ingest similar things to what Gaye must have done in writing and recording it! No classics but good listening.
David McK (3649 KP) rated Star Wars: Vader - Dark Visions in Books
May 7, 2020
Another graphic novel I picked up on sale as part of 2020s Comixology 'May the Fourth' sale, and I'm glad I didn't pay full price.
A collection of short stories (or vignettes) all centring on Vader, some of these are - admittedly - better than others, with some nice ideas in there (e.g. Vader being seen as a saviour rather than as a villain).
It's just a pity that there's not really enough meat on the bones (so to speak!)
