Rolling Stone's 2nd greatest album of all time
Fantastic album, and one I have spent a lot of time listening to. Indeed, on this listen I immediately went back and listened to it again. From the sublime Wouldn't It Be Nice, to the sombre Don't Talk and the story of Sloop John B and the uplifting I Know There's an Answer (or as I prefer, the Hang on to Your Ego version). Every song is a singalong classic and I would encourage everyone to give this a few listens.

"It’s such a beautiful cinematic poem, I suppose. When I did Push in Hong Kong, it was a great pleasure to be able to shoot the film almost in the style of Wong Kar-Wai — just with him in mind, you know. Beautiful light, reds and greens. I actually stayed in one of the apartments in Hong Kong that he designed, which was nice. Lots of wallpaper. As a movie, you’re just so compelled by these two characters, and he only shows glimpses of them, yet they’re so compelling — which is a feat in itself."

I really really really liked this.

The style was easy to get into and the storyline, though a little gory at times, was interesting and unique.

Between the two men in her life I have to say I'm all for Mark Batten . That's not to say I don't like Harry, he's nice and seems he'd do anything for her but Mark seems the same way and he's only human.

I'm very eager for the second book in the series so I can see what happens next between these three.

"I think this one speaks for itself. I saw this after I saw Poetry. I wish more of Lee Chang-dong’s films were on Criterion. Song Kang-ho in Secret Sunshine is not the central performance, but he’s just so honest and raw and true. He’s this man who wants to be loved so badly. It’s heartbreaking. Director Lee really turns a mirror on you. I was raised very Christian, and somehow this film echoes the things buzzing in the back of my head. It’s nice to have someone make you not feel crazy."

Nice concept but dull
I listened to this on audiobook and though I would enjoy the narration by Carey Mulligan. However, I found the writing so repetitive and the character of the librarian so condescending and lecturing that it ended up being a DNF for me. Shame as I liked the premise and it's exploration of mental health. I also liked Haig's previous books which were quirky and well-written but this one just didn't meet the mark for me.

"Where a DVD ceases to be entertainment and becomes a fully immersive educational package about film history, film marketing, the purity of a director’s control, and also one of the greatest films ever made. This was a big deal to acquire; I coveted it for a long time and could not justify the purchase since it was always fairly expensive. I went to a test screening of The Brothers Grimm and met Terry Gilliam for fifteen seconds, and he was so nice and polite that I went home and bought it immediately."

" I’m very lucky because I do it at the BBC, so there are no advertisements, and I’m allowed to choose all of the music myself and invite people in to interview them. For instance, there’s a group of girls called Stealing Sheep and I quite like their records, and there’s a label called Clay Pipe Music that releases really nice, short-run albums, often kind of pastoral sounds, sometimes electronic stuff. I can really just make the show two hours where I share stuff that I like with people. I love doing that."

I dunno with this one. His coldness and pill-taking for half the book annoyed me--even if it was for a good cause--but then the second half where Nila wasn't letting him hide anymore...it was kinda nice seeing more of him emotionally, learning more about his past and his closeness to his brother and sister.

But then that ending! Another cliff-hanger? Really? And this time I may have to go straight to book 5...they better be all right or I'm going to scream and swear 'til the air turns blue. :(

This was a little like an after story; a continuation of Kou and Yoshioka but also showing the relationship between two other characters that had been a long time coming--I wish I could remember how to spell their names!

There were also two other chapters in here: one showing a pizza sharing scene between Kou and Yoshioka and one that showed Kou when he was younger during/after the divorce when he moved to Nagasaki.

Nice ending to the series. Recommend to people who like romances and comics/manga.
