The books is really good and it is nice to get both the mother and the daughters perspective things. You get an insight into why the daughter does the things she does.
The ending is not good...the book suddenly ends and you are wanting to see what happens next. It also is left open for a sequel. As the book was only published last year there is definitely time for a squeal. Would of preferred to read it if I could read the sequel straight away (if there will ever be one).

Hawai'i! Enviromentalism! Pseudo-adultery! And somehow this is one of the most boring entries in the FD series. Basically, Lauren's parent shove a bunch of money at her (as they do), and she decides that with the stress of her friends
1. losing a parent
2. overcoming drug addiction
3. dealing with an obnoxious room mate
4. getting married
I think I might have gone with therapy. Anyway, it's a nice gesture on Lauren's part and the girls join up with an enviromental group for students and shenanigans occur.
This includes Winnie and Faith almost getting blown up by dynamite, and still! The book was boring!
I think it need an evil doppelganger. Yeah, that's it!

Clint still going strong at 89 years oldA
A real slow burner of a film but told in a wonderful way by a true Hollywood legend.Based on a true story Eastwood portrays a man who has lost his home, his livelihood and his family and sees that there isnt much out there for him.So after being pointed in the right direction he decides to become a drugs mule for a drugs cartel. He becomes their most reliable mule delivering their product and making himself some money in the process.
A real pleasure of a film that goes along at a nice slow pace and gives us another wonderful performance by a hollywood great.

I don't know how The Bookworm Crush got crushed out of my radar, but apparently it did until last month and aren't we glad this landed into my radar?
Because in this house, we stan books that are purely bookish, with references that will bring nostalgia on a nice and shiny platter. (My favorites from middle school! The OGs of YA I --!!!)

Erika (17789 KP) rated Pamela; or, Virtue Rewarded in Books

This novel is commonly known as the first true English novel, as well as the first epistolary novel. I've taken numerous British and English Literature classes, but had not been introduced to this novel until I studied in England and took an English novel class taught by a German professor who learned English solely so he could read Shakespeare in the vernacular. I'm glad that this prof included this wonderful novel. It was a nice change from just assigning Jane Eyre and Great Expectations.
It's an interesting study on Pamela, and spawned so many great, satirical novels. This is definitely a must read if you like classic literature and enjoy reading the novels that shaped the literature of today.

EasterBunnyKiller (31 KP) rated Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017) in Movies

I didn't go into this expecting much
This movie was pleasantly surprising. In a world of continual reboots and retreads, it was a nice change of pace. The fact that the movie explored an entirely different aspect of the Jumanji game from the first movie was welcome.
The script was top notch. Each main character was well established and had good development throughout the movie. The humor is well balanced and the actors clearly gelled together well.
Was simultaneously upset and pleased by the fact that the trailers for the movie (to my recollection) made any effort to showcase Bobby Cannavale, who is in my opinion, by far the most skilled actor in the movie.
