The plot of this film interested me immediately. This is not an alien-invasion film, it's an alien occupation film. It was definitely a nice change. The aliens only appear a few times, and you don't really know anything about them, other than they sounds like cicadas in the summer when they communicate and live underground.
John Goodman's character was my favorite, by far, and you could tell that not everything was as it seemed. I liked the Trojan Horse analogy, which is very apt for the plot. You can kind of figure out what's going on, and as the banner photo shows, you know John Goodman's character eventually goes down to the tunnels.
Overall, it was a different, refreshing movie and well worth a watch.

Not one of the Rock's best
This is one of those wildly cheesy, silly and overblown action films that sadly goes way too over the top. The technology is just too much, the script is pretty average and the whole plot is just very predictable and silly. At least as with all of Dwayne Johnson's films, it is vaguely entertaining but not particularly memorable. The bad guys are cliched and altogether unforgettable and the whole film is just very "meh". The only really good thing I can say is that it was nice to see Neve Campbell in something recent that isn't a Scream film (as that's all I've seen her in). Other than that this is an alright film for background noise and that's it. Even Rampage was better than this.

This series gets better and better!
It’s not often that the second book in a trilogy is better than the first, but I really feel that’s the case with this book. The machinations against one another (that’ll be EVERYONE!), the political intrigue - no-one trusts anyone else in this series, and for good reason! Nobody is particularly nice. The sexual tension between Jude and Carden reaches a whole new level, but even then, there’s no trust. I didn’t see ANY of the double crosses coming, but then I was so sucked in to the story, so it’s hardly surprising.
This is such a good series, and I have a year to wait for the last instalment!!
Many thanks to Readers First for my copy of this book, and for feeding the Faerie land addiction!

I have just recently started to rewatch thin blue line, the comedy in this tv series is mild but classic, it has a silliness to the program but still funny different from today comedy (1 more)
Roman Atkinson plays a police Sargent with a girlfriend whom complains about their boring sex life or lack there of. They often role play ideas which become very out there and Ridiculous
The second series is slightly less funny than the first but still funny, I guess this is why there was only two series, if they could of kept up the same comedy from first series, making a third (1 more)
Series would of been nice to see but I feel as the second series didn’t take off as much that’s why it stop at two.
Golden oldies

CLERKS
Clerks is an indie comedy shot in black and white about dante hicks (Brian O'Halloran) a man reluctantly left in charge of the Quick Stop. His place of work...on his day off! Working with his best friend Randall (Jeff Anderson) at the adjoined video store (when it suits him) who's hate for his job and its customers become problematic for dantes attempt at a customer service a nice guy,
Problems continue as dantes continuous fight with girlfriend veronica and feeble attempts at getting back with his ex caitlyn, not to mention local dealers Jay (jason mewes) and silent Bob (kevin smith).

Released in 1994, and spawning a sequel and multiple spin offs, written and directed by Kevin Smith, CLERKS is a magic cult hit with characters we can all identify ourselves with.

Received this book in a good reads giveaway and boy am i glad i did. I couldn't put it down and read it in one sitting,i loved all the different characters who all seemed so real ,if i found a reading circle like that id join it in a shot, loved the ups and downs and felt i lived it all with them,i am a big fan of erotica, but i wouldn't class this in that genre,it was more chick lit with spice ,i was in stitches with laughter at some points,it was nice to read a book with such strong, normal, female role models. But by far my favorite character had to be Reggie, loved the chic geek,so glad to have discovered a new author.

After being forced to form a book club with her feuding neighbors, Bea is shocked to find the owner of the local Chinese restaurant dead behind his cash register. With events that are mirroring their first book, MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS, Bea and the reading group must figure out what the clues mean to find the killer.

The pace seemed off at times, although part of that was setting up the characters and the series. There was still plenty of time for some great twists that would have made Christie herself proud. Throw in some good characters and a nice dose of humor and you've got a winning series debut.

I started reading this series years ago, because of "meeting" Ms. Ferris via rec.crafts.textiles.needlework . It's odd to think of how much has changed since then—I don't even have a dedicated usenet client installed any more! Still, I still stitch, and I still enjoy the little handwork bits throughout Ferris' novels.

Unfortunately, the digressions into minutia on other topics (do I care where Goddy picked up an expression? Honestly, no) gets annoying. If there had been one more sentence about Lars' Stanley Steamer, I might have thrown the book across the room.

Still, these books are much brighter in tone than so much of what I read that they make a nice break here and there. The free patterns at the back of each book certainly don't hurt, either.

The Company of Wolves (1984)
The Company of Wolves (1984)
1984 | Drama, Horror, Sci-Fi
Curious British-made feminist werewolf movie retells the story of Little Red Riding Hood (along with various others). A young girl dreams of a fairy-tale world of wolves and dark magic, where some people are hairy on the inside and everyone has a bit of a beast in them.

One of those movies laden with a slightly ponderous symbolism; doesn't really make sense except as an allegory for something-or-other; quite what that is is a bit unclear. It's not that all men are wolves at heart, but something slightly more even-handed. Good cast, nice production values; some of the special effects have dated a bit, but not risibly so. In the end it is all quite impressive but at the same time wilfully oblique.
