"I always think of Renoir whenever I make any picture, and he made a comedy about show business called French Cancan. It’s set around the turn of the century, and Jean Gabin plays the guy who invented the Moulin Rouge night club. He did it by championing the return of the can can, and it’s a glorious film. Gabin was great and Renoir is my favorite director. It’s a show business story, and so is ours."

"Rock Lobster' was the first song I heard from it, I think from John Peel. I didn't listen to the record for a long time because the club I went to in Sheffield, an alternative indie club called The Limit, always played either 'Rock Lobster' or 'Planet Claire' every single night for three years that I went there. You would hear that, 'Bela Lugosi's Dead' by Bauhaus, 'Shack Up' by A Certain Ratio, 'She Sells Sanctuary' by The Cult, 'This Is The Day' by The The... nowadays the guy could have been a Spotify playlist, he hardly ever deviated and God knows why he turned up and put them on by hand, but he did. That was the only place to go if you were considered a bit of a weirdo."

Not as good as I remember
I was hoping this film held up over the years like Breakfast Club, Fright Night or even Night of the Living Dead, but not really.

Two teenage are among the few who survive an encounter with a comet that leaves most of the world's population dead turned into orange ash or mutated zombies. Instead of being overly concerned about their situation, they decide to go shopping and do makeovers on themselves with all the latest 80s fashions and make up trends. A few scientist types who also survived are harvesting some other normal people to collect their blood to ease in prolonged exposure.

Seeing all the 80s clothing, hairstyles and musical score was fun, but there were not many laughs. I can forgive low budget if the camp factor is entertaining enough; however, last night when I watched it mostly fell flat.

Kind of disappointed.
