Pet Sematary (2019) just goes to show that when it comes to certain stories, sometimes read is better.
Handsomely produced and atmospherically shot, this re-adaptation of Stephen King’s powerful exploration of grief serves to underline the key message of the original novel: it’s best to let dead things rest...

Based on a bestselling French novel apparently. I have to say I was disappointed with this. It sounded like a great setting for a horror film with a good back story. However it just slowly plods on to the conclusion, some of the dialogue was pretty bad I have to add. Not sure how Mischa Barton got talked into this.

Interesting concept. Its like a fantasy novel for children. Historical references were neat. Read an interview with the author and he used the pictures to build the story around them. Thus, they fit into the story perfectly. At times, they seemed forced upon the story though. Kept my attention and was pretty light reading. The movie version will be interesting also.

The novel is a prequel that sets up the Peter Pan story we all know and love. As a Peter Pan fan, I enjoyed it, although the short chapters and multiple view points made it too choppy near the end.

A slightly fantastical but nevertheless enjoyable story about Doug Parker, a man whose older wife passes away unexpectedly in a plane crash. The novel chronicles Doug coming to terms with his grief, including dealing with his troubled teenage stepson and his equally troubled twin sister, Claire. The plot is a bit much at times, but it's still a rather honest and quick read.

I picked up this book as a film version is coming out and I must admit, I'll probably watch it at some point. The love story itself for this novel is serviceable, but I could predict the entire plot within the first 20 pages and, at times, actually found myself cringing and rolling my eyes as I was reading certain lines. Not fun.

It has taken me a really long time to wrap my brain around this one. Like any Ballard novel, it makes you think. This one was a little more bizarre (if that was possible), than the other works I've read by him. It definitely made me laugh, the word semen made an appearance on nearly every page. Overall, it was interesting and entertaining.

When two women are kidnapped outside of a "fat farm," the race is on to find them. However, the ransom demand is very unusual. Might that be a clue? With vivid characters and great suspense, I raced through this one.

I really liked this graphic novel collection, and was completely bummed when I found out that Marvel cancelled the series after Volume 3. The art is so cute and plucky. Patsy goes from unemployed to opening up a temp agency for people with super powers. She's got a lot of issue and baggage, but she gets through it. Overall, a fun book.

I really liked the Heart of Darkness vibes from this novel. It's probably one of my favorites by Ballard. The descriptions of the now drowned world are so detailed, and the fact that the city-scape is completely alien. It was a fast-paced, quick read and I read it in one sitting (though, to be fair, I'm a speed-reader).
