The Chocolate Lady (94 KP) rated Thanksgiving in Books
Oct 7, 2020
Wishing all my friends in the US a Happy Thanksgiving! In Ellen Cooney's novel "Thanksgiving," she follows the Morley women over 350 years, using their ancestral home and the food they prepared for their Thanksgiving table as the focal points. This is a totally unique idea that has been very well executed. You can read my full review here https://tcl-bookreviews.com/2013/12/13/one-family-one-holiday-many-generations-of-women/

The Chocolate Lady (94 KP) rated The Lost for Words Bookshop in Books

What would you think about a woman who is so secretive about her past that the only clues to it appear as her tattoos that contain only the first lines of significant novels? This is Loveday Cardew and she works at the Lost for Words Bookshop, the titular store in Stephanie Butland’s latest novel. See what I thought of this book in my review here.

The Chocolate Lady (94 KP) rated The Women of the Copper Country in Books
Oct 7, 2020
In Mary Doria Russell’s latest novel, we get to learn the story of Anna Clements, who was an amazing woman during the famous copper mining strike in Michigan of 1913-14. I wasn’t expecting to put up this #bookreview today, but I couldn’t wait to tell you about this amazing book that will be released on August 6, on my blog here https://tcl-bookreviews.com/2019/08/02/the-price-of-copper/

Gisell Middleton (189 KP) rated A Boy and his Dog at the End of the World in Books
Oct 3, 2019
This novel is AMAZING! The narrative is excellent and the timing is impeccable. The structure is unique and well-done. This story deals with the post-apocalypse in a much more internalized way so that it just feels like another occurrence. The real mastery is the character development and poignant situations which are relatable and incredible all at once. Definitely one of my favorites of the year and an indisputable must read!
