The only Christmas story
There have been hundreds of adaptations of this book, and yet this will be the only classic version. It is the original redemption novella. The treatment of the poor and the ability of a self-interested man absolving himself by transforming into a more sympathetic character are the key themes of the story. With A Christmas Carol, Charles Dickens captured the essence of the mid-Victorian revival of the Christmas holiday.

A Beautiful Love Story!
The Beach House by Sterling Keyes made me fall in love with reading romance books again! This novella is the perfect summer/beach read... great writing, very relatable characters, and a perfect beach setting. A beautiful love story that pulled me in right from the start! This is the first book in A Shimmer Pointe Series and I'm really looking forward to reading the next book! Highly Recommend this gem!

The second novella in Simon Scarrow's 'Arena' series of books, this picks up almost directly after the events of the first.

It also follows pretty much the same pattern as before, with Pavo (who, despite the impression given by the blurb, is the main character rather than Macro) training for another bout in the Roman Arena, while political machinations go on in the background, and with the final chapter concerned with that bout alone.

I don't know if it's because it's been so long since I read the first book in this series; Echo and Noah's, or the shortness of this novella/short story but I didn't remember the characters or feel that interested in the story. The best bit for me was probably the paintball bit near the end.

I have the next two books in the series but I won't be reading them yet.
