Billie Wichkan (118 KP) rated Love's Second Chance Series Box Set One in Books
Mar 15, 2019
This collection has 4 wonderful full-length novels. Each one has a character that has appeared before and all these can be read as a standalone also. The author is truly gifted and she describes love in a beautiful clean way. Her stories are all intriguing and gripping. The characters are well developed and have appeared previously which is lovely to see and follow.
I highly recommend these to be read.
I received the box set from the novelist herself but this is my honest opinion.

Obsessed book reviews (49 KP) rated Christmas with the Sheriff (Shadow Creek, Montana, #1) in Books
May 7, 2019
this is an emotion read from the first page, so have your tissues at the ready. You will fall in love with the characters as the story progresses. This is a lovely Christmas read, perfect for those winter afternoons. This is a fab author who know exactly how to bring you very well written romance novels. I cant wait to read more from this author in the future.

Kyera (8 KP) rated Illuminae: The Illuminae Files: Book 1 in Books
Feb 1, 2018
The layout of this book was so unique - rather than a straight narrative, you were able to experience the story through short bursts via IM chats, 3rd-party observations while transcribing security video, and AI logs. The characters developed over the course of the novel, but it was surprisingly the artificial intelligence A.I.D.E.N. that stole the show. It was an enjoyable story and the plot wasn't predictable. I highly recommend the book to fans of young adult/teen novels, science fiction and truly well thought out narratives.

Dana (24 KP) rated Pawn (The Blackcoat Rebellion, #1) in Books
Mar 23, 2018
Ms. Carter did it again. I absolutely loved the Goddess Test series and I am just as excited about this one. I loved all of the plot twists in it and the characters were so easy to get attached to. I really enjoyed the little details of the book. There was so much action in this and, unlike many other Young Adult novels, there wasn't really a love triangle. Woo! I hope people will want to read this as much as I did. Great job Aimée Carter!!

Erika Kehlet (21 KP) rated Cold Fire in Books
Feb 19, 2018
I was expecting some blood, gore, violence, and monsters (as you would expect from a novel written by a master of horror) and it was all there, but this isn't strictly a horror novel. It was more of an intriguing paranormal thriller, combined with romance and plenty of drama. The suspense kept me hooked and the believable characters left me thinking about them long after I finished reading the story. I haven't read many Koontz novels, but will definitely be reading more after this one.

David McK (3562 KP) rated I Shall Wear Midnight: (Discworld Novel 38) in Books
Jan 28, 2019
Terry Pratchett's latest Discworld book, this time aimed at a younger audience than his previous "Unseen Academicals", with the return of teen witch Tiffnay Aching and the Nac Mac Feegle (both introduced in "Wee Free Men" and expanded on in "A Hat Full of Sky" and "Wintersmith")
The Nac Mac Feegle seem to have somewhat of a lesser role than previous and, in a departure from his norm, Pratchett re-introduces us to some of the characters from his earlier novels - one in particular.

David McK (3562 KP) rated Fortress of Spears (Empire, #3) in Books
Jan 30, 2019
The third book in Antony Riches Empire series of novels which, while better than the last, if I'm honest I still found to be pretty slow going, plodding and just not really all that exciting.
As before, I could never really connect with any of the characters or with the events described and, as such, just found this to be at times a bit of a tedious read.
3 books in and I've yet to really enjoy the series: maybe it's just not for me!
