Cassie (21 KP) is asking for a recommendation

Jan 21, 2019
Recommend Me
Looking for good books for my 10 year old daughter. She is reading on a young adult/adult level. I want her to feel challenged but dont want her reading content that is too mature for her age. She enjoys most genres. Open to all ideas!

I had, same issue with my son, most school library books at his reading level were blocked to him until recently. What about books by Frank Cottrell Boyce? He used to love those at that age.

"I spent many hours as a child and teenager digging into Tintin. Actually, it was a difficult choice between Tintin and “The Little Prince,” because that is another old favorite. Despite being classified as children’s books, I believe these can easily be read and enjoyed by adults."

"I met James Baldwin with my family in Istanbul (I think my dad was doing the music for a play he was directing). I remember his eyes—just loving those eyes. When I was old enough to read his books, I fell in love with his mind."

I remember reading Meg and Mog when I was a small child and I loved it! I'm so happy I get to share these books with my 3 year old daughter. She really enjoyed this one, it made her giggle and she really wanted to know where Mog went. Adorable!

Amazon Kindle for PC
Easy to use and very customizable, I love my Kindle for PC. I have had it for about thirteen years. Each time I have to buy a new computer because my old one died, I download my Kindle off of my Amazon account right away. My books are in the cloud, and I have safely downloaded them to my new computer with no problems.

As usual Steve Berry does not disappoint. Cotton Malone, Cassiopeia Vitt, & Stephanie Nelle are 3 of my favorite characters. And happily, this book was no exception. It had all the history, intrigue, murder, & mayhem you come to expect from Cotton & Berry. No matter how many books I read with this combination they never get old.

I remember reading this book when I was 11-12 years old and let me tell you, it is one of the funniest books you will ever read. The stories are short, which is great for anyone with a short attention span, not much time for reading, or just looking for a quick laugh.

Long before the Internet, or even computers, New Yorker Helene Hanff started buying books from Marks & Co. in London, thereby beginning relationships that lasted for decades. This set pulled me back in, it was great to see some of the characters I loved from the old books. I was also excited that they gave us info from some stuff that happened after the book run ended. Not to mention the new Karn and Teferi.

My English teacher couldn't even understand half the language! I'm happy reading old books with and older English language but this was stupid and unintelligible. Not to mention all the characters were the most boring people I've ever had to read about.

Got about 50 pages in and gave up, still got a B in my exam though lol.
