I Am Mother (2019)
I Am Mother (2019)
2019 | Sci-Fi, Thriller
Watched this on impulse and glad I did.
The cast is small, the concept is tried and tested and the sets are amazing.
Don't want to give too much away but after an incident that destroys the human race, in a lab a droid called Mother raises a daughter from embryo to teen. Training her to be a doctor.
Then a woman arrives from outside and she reveals that Mother may not have been totally truthful. There is a very uncomfortable scene of bullet extraction without pain relief.
It maybe a little bit of a predictable ending but the acting from the small cast is superb and you will forgive it's predictability.
Yes it's very Terminator in its execution of its central idea of can you trust machine.

The greatest game of all time
Without a doubt the greatest game of all time, I have played it 3 times and I love it more and more every time. The story is incredible, and here is the thing it's so much more than just about clickers, it's not another zombie game it has so much meaning to it. You can feel the pain of Joel with everything he had to go through and you see the rise of Joel throughout the game. I care so much for the characters and that is so important during a game. I don't think I will ever find a game as beautiful as this one. The Last of Us is the reason I bought a PS3 and I am so glad I did.

Disclaimer: I received an e-copy in exchange for an honest review.

To think, one man, after watching a bullfight, brought animals hope where they knew only pain and suffering.

To be truly honest, I had never heard of Henry Bergh. We've all heard of the ASPCA--I've even donated to them over the years--and yet I had no idea Mr. Bergh was the man we owe our gratitude to for its founding. Not only that, but he started reforming the laws governing children, as well. He's such an influential person of history, and his contributions are still alive and well to this day. I would be greatly interested to see this made into a movie, as more people need to know about how this man's story.

A gripping classic
Classics can be a bit boring, but not this classic! Uncle Tom's Cabin is filled with complex plots and characters that you can't help but root for.

You follow the story of uncle Tom, a slave living in Kentucky. His story is one of hardship, pain, and loneliness with beautiful examples of love and faith woven through.

Eliza is also an important character. She's a woman fighting to keep her family together and free. Her adventurous escape is daring and dangerous. Thrilling to say the least!

This book is impossible to put down! It fosters deep thoughts and perspectives about slavery and racism. Not an easy read but definitely worth it!

This was my first book by Max Henry but I've clearly been hooked!? LOVED this book! Not your typical love story... with everything from MC bikers to Cuban drug lords and murder. A dark read, with a few scenes that were tough to read.. abuse, pain, loss... so much packed into this story. There is also a beautiful love story in there... King comes from a good place, educated and with a loving hard-working family. He and Elena clearly have an intense connection and he wants nothing more than to save her without destroying his place in his MC. Watching the two of them struggle through was torture and that cliffhanger ending!? Oh, I will SURELY be back for the rest of this story - can't wait!! Highly recommended!!

From start to finish it had me sucked in. Remi's performance made you feel. It gave me a whole new appreciation for the talent that Queen had/has. (0 more)
Too great for words

I took my 3 boys to see this incredible masterpiece. All three are under 10 and they were enthralled with it and cannot wait to own the movie.
Remi completely sucks you in. He was the perfect choice for casting. When Mary had to walk away or when Mary helped Freddie you could feel the pain. You wept for Freddie.
So much talent. It is truly a classic movie. When you leave the theater you have to smile because you just experienced a piece of history. You also leave with a brand new appreciation for Queen.

The Vegetarian
There is a dark irony in this novel where the person at the centre, who is dying due to her insanity is the one person who seems most at peace and dare I say happy in her beautiful ignorance. The others are playing their roles and thinking themselves resigned to a state of resignation walking forward with regret. There are also string themes of patriarchy and it's oppression of the females but written almost as if the men are unwilling partakers as if they feel they have no choice but to be oppressive due to their place in the world from birth. This book is so filled with pain the words scream at you. It is bitterness and darkness buying your mind. A very bleak but captivating read and worthy of its accolades
