"Renoir is in my holy trinity of filmmakers. How rare for an artist’s love of people and performance to be matched by his or her sense of craft, curiosity, experimentation, and adventure. French Cancan is my favorite of his, the most joyous, celebratory, wondrous thing."

"I’m late to this party but my life is immeasurably improved with the presence of this sunny, good-spirited TV show about regular people with very special skills. Quite literally a show I can watch with the whole family and talk about for hours later."

"The reality TV–esque approach of this movie is so prescient. In recent times we have seen so many people use the media to glorify violence and murder. This movie feels like black comedy, but really it’s a deep commentary about the sensationalism of evil."

"This very early work by Stanley Kubrick is the most powerful antiwar film I know. Its emotional impact is overwhelming. Few people can watch the last scene without shedding tears. (The singer in it became Kubrick’s second wife, and they remained together until his death.)"

"I worked very, very briefly in the money market, and continue to be fascinated by the amoral shuffling of money that has real consequences in ordinary people’s lives, and very little consequences to the people doing it. Michael Lewis is brilliant at making things accessible. "

"Because I believe great horror should work as straight drama if you remove all the horror elements. Rosemary’s Baby is the perfect example of this. It is almost a straight drama anyway, but people think of it as the ultimate horror film. I love that."

I found it hard to get past the bitchiness of Bridget for a while. And I'd like to point out that this book can be a bit triggering for people suffering from eating disorders or struggling with self-esteem issues etc in some bits.

Metal fans! I spent some time putting together my dream Download line up poster.
My only rule was no dead people! So there are some bands that aren't together anymore. But just imagine that stage clashes don't exist and I reckon it's pretty solid. Enjoy!

This movie is all about how amazing Jim Carey is and people with funny noses. I can't get over how fantastic The Grinch looks when he dresses up for the town celebration <3 "That's it, I'm not going"... I quote that way too often XD
