The crayon lead production of Frankenstein is all ready to go until the giant squiggle appears in the sky. Can they solve the problem, or will they have to cancel this book before we even get a chance to read it?

This is a delightfully funny picture book that parents will definitely appreciate. It breaks the fourth wall as the crayons tell us the story of why they can’t tell us the story of Frankenstein. After things are resolved, we get a couple of fun and appropriate morals that don’t lecture us. I’m not sure the very youngest of kids will understand all the jokes, but older picture book fans should get them with some help from their parents.

When Aimee Leduc takes a decoded picture to a client in the Jewish quarter of Paris, she finds the woman dead and things quickly unravel from there. Honestly, I found the book too busy, which left not enough time to wrap everything up in the end.

"I was crying reading the secret letter exchange Kruschev and John Kennedy quite extensively. Together, they thought they could create World Peace. They almost did, just before Kennedy was assassinated. If you want to read all the correspondence between those two, there is a separate 200 page book of it. This book only mentions a few. But it gives the picture of John Kennedy we didn’t know"

"“I’m not sure if a book can actually change a person. I’m not even sure if people truly ever change. But I like this book very much. It’s about a drawn-out incestuous love affair between brother and sister. It’s one of the most well-constructed pieces of art I’ve ever encountered. I also love The Picture of Dorian Gray for the same reason."
