Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2346 KP) rated High Water Hellion (Luanne Fogarty Mysteries, #5) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Luanne agrees to help her police boss Tony find something his aunt was rumored to throw into a lake. But then they find evidence that his aunt was murdered. With a hurricane coming, will they catch the killer? While there was one obvious plot point, the rest of the book was filled with the usual good storytelling, strong characters, and atmospheric writing.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2346 KP) rated A Night at the Operation (Double Feature Mystery #3) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Comedy theater owner Elliot Freed is upset when his ex-wife goes missing. Then the police start looking for her in a suspicious suicide. What's going on? Yes, this is a comic mystery. And I laughed the entire way through. The climax came a little abruptly and the new characters were a tad flat, but I loved every minute of it.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2346 KP) rated Killer Blonde (A Jaine Austen Mystery, #3) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Jaine has taken a job ghost writing a party planning book, but SueEllen, her new boss, turns out to be horrible. But when the police begin focusing on a murdered SueEllen's step-daughter, Jaine steps in to find the killer. While the characters can be a bit shallow, they work in this laugh out loud, over the top, comedic mystery.

MissCagey (2652 KP) rated Patriots Day (2016) in Movies
Mar 30, 2018
Harrowing account of the Boston Marathon bombing and aftermath. I really liked that the story was interwoven with actual cctv of the real bombers and their movements leading up to their capture.
I really rate Mark Wahlberg but I didn't find him or his character convincing in this film, he was everywhere, plain clothes, uniform, cctv expert...that bugged me a little but I guess it was easier to tell the story with this "generic" police officer. That's really my only gripe.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2346 KP) rated Goody Goody Gunshots (A Candy Shop Mystery, #4) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
When Abby witnesses a murder, naturally she leaves to call the police. Only when they return, they can't find a body. Then Abby sees the victim around town. What's going on? This is the fourth in the series, and I thought it was the best one to date. The characters are strong and the plot kept me guessing until the end.

You have the right to remain silent
I like the police.
They are good guys and gals who train hard to keep our cities safe. Honestly, I respect them for what they do every day.
Yes there are a couple of bad seeds but that's in any profession; corrupt politicians, sleazy lawyers, dodgy doctors, you name it every profession has it. But overall they are a good bunch.
