Rolling Stone's 100th greatest album of all time
Possibly the best, most underrated album of the 60s. Time of the Season perfectly encapsulates my view of the 60s. Perfectly nailing the pop sensibilities of the time, with creeping psychedelic themes.

"Jean Harlow and Billy the Kid meet up and have sex in this absurdist pop art play that used to get busted for obscenity. Isn’t now the perfect time to bring it back and turn it into a Broadway musical?"

Singer Diana Krall's 13th album, Turn Up the Quiet, is one of the Observer's early favourites for the year's best jazz records. And there are some surprising turnouts from the Rolling Stones to Iggy Pop. A total mixed jazz bag this year:

From the coolest member of the Rolling Stones to a punk icon trying on his Sinatra fedora to a former bartender who mixes sounds through her trumpet, jazz music is anything if not diverse.

No really, just listen to this album and hear what Annie is saying. She is a powerful, modern artist who can comment on society with a confidence and vulnerability that few have today.

"Bangerz" is neither the best nor worst pop album released this year, but it's inarguably the most fiercely individual.

Rolling Stone's 53rd greatest album of all time
A re-issue for America of the Beatles' debut album, with added singles. The added singles definitely make it a better album than With the Beatles, it is a good sugar-sweet 60s pop album.

"Most everything I know about Nigerian cooking, I’ve learned from Ms. Aribisala, the nation’s finest culinary writer. She writes with emotion, grace and good humor about pop culture, history, geography, art and economics, all through her very personal stories of food and sex."
