What an explosive end to a great trilogy!

The Voice That Twists the Knife wraps up the trilogy nicely, and starts with Bella and Ariana swapping places: Bella goes back to Ralph and the team, and Ariana goes to London with her father. Ariana is mad with her mother for keeping secrets, and this is her punishment. Quite who she’s punishing is questionable!

There are human/ animal hybrids, mind readers, kinetic powers and more. Lychen is more powerful and controlling than ever, playing God along with his research team.

There’s only one way this can go, and it’s an exciting journey. I’ve really enjoyed this trilogy. Many thanks to The Pigeonhole and to JM Briscoe for reading along.

The Crimson Spell ( charmed book 3)
By F. Goldsborough and Constance M. Burge
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Prue, Piper, and Phoebe don't know that a coven of warlocks is hunting them. They don't know that one of the warlocks has entered their lives disguised as a friend. And they don't know the coven's mission-to drain them of their magical powers, even if it means destroying them to do it!

Now the Charmed Ones must figure out which of their friends is really their enemy. Because sometimes what you don't know-can kill you.

What’s not to love? A new story with the Halliwells I miss this series so much so these little books are great for a charmed fix.

A magical story.

The Garden Gnome is a beautifully story. I love the way that the lives of so many are interwoven and work well together. The blend of past and present, magic and science is perfect. There's enough of everything to keep everyone intrigued and reading but without being bombarded with too much if the things you wouldn't normally be into. The descriptive balance is also good, enough to build a picture but still plenty of room for your imagination to play with the carefully chosen words of Jeff McIntyre.
I'm pretty sure Jeff has some magical powers which he's used to created a cleverly refreshing story.

You'll definitely needs snacks for this one as you won't be wanting to put this down!

The Sword of Destiny ( Witcher saga book 2)
By Andrzej Sapkowski
⭐️⭐️⭐️

Geralt of Rivia is a Witcher, a man whose magic powers and lifelong training have made him a brilliant fighter and a merciless assassin. Yet he is no ordinary killer: he hunts the vile fiends that ravage the land and attack the innocent. But not everything monstrous-looking is evil; not everything fair is good . . . and in every fairy tale there is a grain of truth.

This was pretty average and what you’d expect from Gerald’s adventures. The last section The Sword of Destiny was more interesting as he’s meeting Ciri for the first time.
It was an ok read. Think it just lacked a little something for me.

Well, that was unexpectedly good.

Nic Cage starring live action of Spider-Noir, available to view in either full-colour or authentic black-and-white, as a detective in the 1930s who also happens to be New Yorks one and only superhero, before giving up the latter following the death of his fiancee years earlier than this is set.

This is thus a mixture of detective work, pulling heavily from the detective noir (it's in the title, folks) of the 40s and 50s, as well as some body horror (the episode where it flashes back to how he got his powers) and a new take on some familiar foes (most noticeably, to me, Flint Marko aka Sandman).

Definitely well worth a watch!
