Merissa (12015 KP) rated The Bend-Bite-Shift Box Set in Books

The plot is well written and well paced. The characters all have depth and oomph to them, and more than one has a hint of mystery to them. The story has one main theme which runs through all five books but then each book has it's own, more detailed story. There is enough going on that is a series that could go on for a few more books at least. I'm really hoping it does! +Olivia Hardin has written some more in the "For Love of Fae" trilogy which will have at least some characters that we have already met.
If you want Paranormal Romance with some action and mystery, with powers to 'bend' your mind at an incredible value for money price, then check out the Bend-Bite-Shift Box Set.

It went into politics and I didn't like that as I don't like political story lines and how political powers sway things in books.
The author brought the characters to life by writing the way they spoke - this really ruined the book for me as I found it very hard to read. For some readers this may really bring the book together.
I feel the intended audience for this book are male aged 45 - 60. I didn't feel like a book for females. I wasn't sure how about some of the comments the main character made about the women in the book...he certainly likes the ladies.
I feel I was more hooked by the blurb than the book.

One of those films which has entered the collective consciousness of generations - 'Tis but a scratch!', the Knights who say 'Ni', the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch, and so on. Whether the film's willingness to totally rip up the cinema rulebook (opening with the titles from a completely different film, completely dispensing with a conventional ending) is inspired or just slightly annoying is probably up to the individual viewer, but this is the work of a team working at the height of their powers. Very, very funny.

A relatively short read, coming in at less than 200 pages. This slow starter rapidly became one of those books that I struggled to put down.
Scarlett has felt different for a long while, but seems to develop her magick powers naturally without any guidance. Scarlett is your typical 21 year old, enjoying living away from home, in the big city, looking for love, finding a job after finishing school, managing finances and having fun with friends, oh and being a witch! That was until the night of the break in. After that Scarlett started to notice odd little things, would lose train of thought, or moments in time. Until one day when it all came together in an intriguing climax.
The first in this series, I would happily purchases the rest.
