Auburn (57 KP) rated The Broken Ones (The Malediction Trilogy, #0.6) in Books

I absolutely fell in love with the original trilogy and couldn't wait to get my hands on the prequel. I am not disappointed.
This gave the reader another glimpse into the world of the trolls and what came to pass before the beloved trilogy and the epic story that followed. The pages are filled with love and a glimpse behind the mask of Marc.
If you loved the trilogy you will not be disappointed by this!

this is a novella to the capture series, you can read this before the other 3 books or after. this is a short prequel to the series that you'll want to read. this is a very well written novella that you just have to read in one sitting. this novella is heart wrenching from the beginning and makes you want to read the the other straight away.

An extremely good book. It is rare that I find a book that I just can't put down, this book is one of those. It is a cross between steampunk, classic literature, and X-Men. This is the first book in a series there is also a prequel about Finley before the events of this book! If the rest of this series is a good as this one then I will devour the rest in no time.

A great coming of age story. Both serious and funny. The book is broken into two parts the first is about her upbringing and the difficulties of being seen as less than... The part two picks up in the same time that chapter one does and goes from there.
Although you're supposed to read this second as it is a prequel (to the Blue Sword) it is a good stand alone/read first book. I highly recommend.

A nice surprise!
A surprising good Horror film that is definitely different to the normal Slasher. A small group hire an old barn in a remote area to make an adult film. The old couple on the farm find out which lead to a series of events to unfold.
For a low budget indie film it was really good, creepy, sinister, with good gore effects as well. A prequel Film Pearl was made at same time.

Entirely unnecessary
It really frustrates me when they make films like this that are so obviously motivated by the money only. Did we really need a prequel to the Purge films to know exactly how it all began? Of course we didn't as everything we needed to know was in the other Purge films anyway. How many people have really wanted a Purge prequel? And sadly this film is as unnecessary as you'd expect.
Most of it plays out in a similar way to the others, and is entirely predictable and lacking in originality. It doesn't even have any creepy costumes or decent deaths like the others, so it really is lacking entirely. It gets slightly more interesting towards the end with the Raid-like tower block scenes but even this seems to just be trying to replicate the Raid and all of the other films like it. The characters too are all immediately forgettable.
Unless you absolutely love the other Purge films, this really isn't worth a watch.
