"There was a movie called Animal Factory; it was [written] by Eddie Bunker, and it was directed by Steve Buscemi. It’s probably the best prison movie that’s ever been made. It’s unbelievable. I actually helped produce that. Eddie had the script, was running around with it for a while, and then gave it to me and said, “See what you can do with it.” I remember handing it to Steve Buscemi on Con Air, and I said, “Here, Steve. Read this or I’ll kill you.” [laughs] And he read it. He loved it, but he said, “Danny, there’s nothing really in it for me,” and I said, “No, no, no, we want you to direct it.” So he got Willem Dafoe, and when he got Willem Dafoe, everybody else kind of jumped on it."

This is the second novel I have read by this author, the first being Sticks and Stones, and I have enjoyed them both.

Charlie is trying to re-build her life after having spent time in prison; she buys a run down cottage in a small Cornish village and although she tries to keep herself to herself whilst renovating, she starts to become involved in village life and developing friendships amongst the residents but she soon begins to feel uneasy and things start to happen.

With a plausible story line, complex, well developed and interesting characters, a great setting culminating in a thrilling conclusion, this is an enjoyable read.

My thanks go to Random House UK, Vintage Publishing via NetGalley for my copy in return for an honest review.

They try to make you sympathize with Missy
Missy does some...illegal things to David Spade that would get her sent to prison
It's almost like "Just Go With It" but worse if that's even possible
The Wrong Everything
Wow this was bad. Probably the worst Happy Madison movie I've seen and that's saying a lot. The plot itself is pretty mediocre and harmless. Most of the frustration comes from Missy's character. This character single handedly ruined the movie. I don't blame Lauren Lapkus and think she did a decent job acting wise. Missy was written to be such an unlikeable character though. I understand that's what was intended but they take it way too far. This might be free on Netflix but it's not worth the time.
