Definite potential here for an odd mash-up of The X Files and The Poseidon Adventure, but problems with the pacing, exposition and structure mean that the movie never quite takes flight in the way it could have. Decent performances, some good dialogue in places and a decent monster, but should have been much better. As it is, passes the time reasonably engagingly.

It isn't my usual reading--the sci-fi aspect of it anyway--but I got sucked into it early on. Questions were continually running through my mind: How had she managed to come back from the dead? How had Ben managed to do that? What was with the timer? What was killing these people?
It was an interesting read and the characters were cool. I'm sad that certain ones were killed off though I wont spoil it by telling you who. And I was surprised who was causing all the problems in the first place. He wasn't even on my suspect list.
After seeing there is a second book in the series, it's gone on want-to-read list for a later time.

The biggest problems for me were, a) the voiceover, it reminded me too much of Interview with a Vampire, and b) Brad Pitt being the lead. I could think of other actors that could have executed the character a little better.
Like others, I felt like the ending was completely anticlimactic. The story was so strong throughout, then I feel like it was spoiled. The film was also a little too long. That being said, the VFX were pretty amazing, and I can only imagine what this film would look like in IMAX.
