Good descriptions of the setting but I felt character development was flat, like pulled from a psychology textbook. I also felt the storyline was a bit trite. Do not expect any surprises or plot twists. It was good enough for me to keep reading though and life in Alaska seems like a very powerful experience.

Not sure
Not really sure about this one. In some ways parts of this novel will stay with me, in others it just felt a little lost. Maybe it was the animal behaviour mixed with psychology that was shoehorned in rather then developing the characters more. I'm glad I read it but felt it could give more

"I’ve always been fascinated by the psychology of people and trying to understand what motivates ordinary people to do the things they do, as well as the guilt and the redemption of these people afterwards. I cannot think of another book which took me into a character's brain before, during, and after, a crime quite like this one."
