feels like you are building a castle with blueprints

Incredible balanced, semi puzzle, with competitive aspects, and lots of economic and point scoring strategy.

I love this game, it's so much fun to play, and even has a one player version, my wife and I sometimes play separately and send each other pictures of the final blueprints. it's fun to imagine them actually existing with a bowling alley next to a kitchen and a garden a few feet from a torture chamber. The expansion adds some more fun with new rooms and secret passages.

Eh. I don't know that I'll read any more of this series. I found it far too frustrating to wait for the supposedly intelligent lead character to catch up to the killer's very obvious clues. The identity of the murderer seemed plain to me from the moment he was introduced, yet all the other characters were oblivious. And for a "mystery by the numbers" there were very few numbers - I would have thought that at least one little puzzle would have been included for the reader, but there wasn't so much as a reference to Sudoku to be found.

Very much enjoyed this book. I’m not a big gamer and nor was I alive in the 80s but I was still able to get a lot of the references and Cline did a great job of explaining everything. The story got me hooked from the beginning. This world, inside and outside the OASIS, was very interesting and highly developed, so it was very easy to imagine. It was all just a big puzzle and it was fun to go through it. I do wish there had been a little more at the end other than the contest just ending. Overall great read.
