I just read a horror book that felt the need to constantly comment on a character's race or weight as their sole defining characteristic and I'm kinda pissed. I don't usually get upset about these things, but man... It made me feel like the author would hate me (which who knows, they might if they read my review which is forthcoming).

When two women are kidnapped outside of a "fat farm," the race is on to find them. However, the ransom demand is very unusual. Might that be a clue? With vivid characters and great suspense, I raced through this one.

I fi ished The Hate U Give on Christmas Eve after it say on my bookshelf for a year! I'm so glad I picked it up as it has been one of my favourite books I've read in 2019.
Very detailed and inspirational piece of writing. It really makes you think about violence and race crime in our society today.
