We all knew that this pairing had great chemistry and comedic timing because of Ragnarok. To say that the finished result is a let-down is an understatement. It’s kind of beggars belief that you could take these ingredients and make something so thuddingly dull, but somehow it has happened.

Far from a classic, but damn good fun
I went to see Thor: Ragnarok on a whim and am so happy that I did. It was so fun, and I had no idea that Taika was the one directing it, but it made total sense once I saw the credits (watch What We Do In The Shadows for an idea of the kind of humor in this Thor).

Sometimes Thor: Ragnarok should have taken itself a little more seriously than it did, but I did not think those moments detracted from my overall enjoyment of the film. Thanks for making action movies fun again, Marvel.

Also please keep Taika Waititi on for the next one. Please.

Rekindled my love for Marvel movies
Before this came out I was feeling like Marvel movies were in a rut. They just all started feeling the same. Then boom Ragnarok. It was fun and humorous. The action was still there. Sometimes the humor was forced but otherwise it was really funny.
Really made my excited for Marvel movies again.

Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok, What We Do in the Shadows, Jojo Rabbit) produces a homegrown comedic romp. Madeleine Sami and Jackie van Beek star/direct a charming, unique picture about two women who help other people break up with their significant others. Laugh out loud funny from two lesser-known New Zealand talents. 7/10

Thor just turned cool
I know people are going to read this and tell me I'm crazy for actually saying this: BEST MARVEL FILM EVER. From the very first Thor movie to the last avengers film, I thought that Thor never made it anywhere near the top 3 spot for best Marvel superhero. Then along came Ragnarok and I've gotta say, Thor kicked arse. We can't blame Thor for being the uncool avenger, I think we have to blame the writers for the pretty bad Thor titles before this. Ragnarok is filled with tons of action and comedy. The story is centred on a prophecy which once it has begun, Asguard, home of Odin, Thor and fellow Asguardians, will fall and be reduced to ashes. Thor once again takes up arms against a threat again a little too close for comfort. This one is definitely the one to beat.

Definitely not what I was suspecting of the second Avengers movie. I actually got bored at a few points. Not a fan of the ending but at leas they made a lot of sense of it in Ragnarok. Was not happy with a certain death. However James Spader as the voice of Ultron made it very worth while as I am a huge fan of The Blacklist.

The latest MiB is a mere shadow of the former Sonnenfeld trilogy. Perhaps if they put a blinky light in my face I can forget it again? Read the full review on One Mann's Movies here - https://bob-the-movie-man.com/2019/06/16/one-manns-movies-film-review-men-in-black-international-2019/
