Heather (4 KP) rated If I Stay (If I Stay, #1) in Books
May 31, 2018
Had the hardest time putting the book down twice. But I ended up finishing it in under 24 hours. It was that good! I absolutely cannot wait to see the movie now, since I told myself I had to read the book first. Heart-wrenching and beautifully written!

I loooved this book! Loved the characters, friendships and the whole story really. It was funny and genuine. I could not put it down and the ending was just amazingly done. I’m going to watch the movie now and then read Leah on the offbeat ?
Val (0 KP) rated Skulduggery Pleasant in Books

Read this book when I was younger and reread this year and it hasn't lost any of the things that gripped me. It's entertaining, passionate and feisty. Plus, who doesn't love a talking skeleton detective?
Christine A. (965 KP) rated Old Man's War (Old Man's War, #1) in Books

If I hadn't read this for a book club I would have stopped reading it. Of course, now that I finished it, I have to read the next in the series.
In actuality, the book took me less than 4 hours to read. It just took 8 days to finish those 4 hours.
There wasn't anything wrong with the book. I just wasn't connected to the characters. I would have liked the whole Old Farts club to have been a major part of the book.
Edit - I just read someone's review of the series comparing it to the movie "Avitar". I wasn't a fan of the movie so, with the similarities, it would make sense I'm not overly enthusiastic about the book. If you get a chance, read the review of the 2nd book that describes an elevator ride between James Cameron and John Scalzi. I liked it more than Avitar.

Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated Prodigy in Books

It took me a while to get into this, what with it being a few years since I read the first book, but I remembered bits.
There was a bit of a surprise thrown in but by the time it came about I was kind if expecting something like that to happen anyway.
I'm going to have to read the third and final book in the series just to see if they manage to reunite the Americas but I'm not too excited about it all.
Off to start it now.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2200 KP) rated Monk: The Official Episode Guide in Books
Mar 9, 2018
An entertaining look at the episodes and behind the scenes stories from the first four seasons of the show. Obviously, it is outdated now since it only has half the episodes, but it is still fun for what it is.

Amazon Kindle
I've been using Amazon Kindle for a little over 6 years now and it hasn't let me down once yet. I love how easy it is to get new books and see recommendations based off books I've already read. The ability to read the same book across multiple devices and pick up where you left off is absolutely wonderful. 10/10 would recommend.
The Chocolate Lady (94 KP) rated The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society in Books
Oct 7, 2020
I’ve always believed that you should read the book before it becomes a movie, and I couldn’t be more insistent in the case of “The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society.” If you read my recently revised review of this book on my blog here, you might understand why I’m avoiding seeing it, at least for now. https://tcl-bookreviews.com/2014/08/01/an-occupied-island-and-unusual-occupations/
The Chocolate Lady (94 KP) rated The Bookshop in Books
Oct 7, 2020
This lovely little book was recently made into a major motion picture, with a star-studded cast. I enjoyed the film very much, but after seeing it, I had to read the book. My newest review of "The Bookshop" by Penelope Fitzgerald also discusses which was better – the book or the movie – and you can read it on my blog now. https://tcl-bookreviews.com/2018/08/a-village-education.html
Deb (14 KP) rated True Love: A Nantucket Brides Novel in Books

Exceptional Read
The story grabbed at me from the beginning. It was an author that I had never read before and it is now one that I will continue reading books from. You have to be one that enjoys a good romance with a few ghosts thrown in, but even if you are not one of those types, this book may still be one for you as it grabs at you until the very end.
