Racecraft: The Soul of Inequality in American Life
Racecraft: The Soul of Inequality in American Life

"Okay, so this book is really so very important. And its arguments ask to be revisited on multiple occasions. You might recall the title if you read “Between the World and Me.” This book is not personal like Ta-Nehisi Coates’s; it is objective and rigorous. Scholars Barbara J. Fields and Karen E. Fields explain what race is, and what it isn’t. I feel I waited my whole life to read their primer, in chapter four, on ideology—what it is, and how it works. Now I know."

Do not read this book!
This is the first book in the series, it is fun and clever but if you like happy endings look away now. The characters are engaging and Count Olaf is one of the best villians of all time.

I love this book so much. Mostly, I think, because of Cessy. She is my hero. Oh, the book?

The tragic death of a friend and incest lizards. Really, isn't that all you need to know?
Go on and read it! NOW!

"Truly, anything Roald Dahl. We read them all the time growing up. Just the right mix of absurdity and sweetness. Right now, as a father I’m feeling Danny, Champion of the World as it is a lovely insight into the father/son relationship."

"I read every night. I do the Kindle thing. My wife bought it for me, and at first, I wouldn't use it because I'm such a book guy. I had to hide that I wasn't using it. After four or five months, she asked me what the deal was, so I tried it and now I read on it. Actually, I read the book on Kindle and then I also have a library in Seattle. So, I just finished Caroline Alexander's The Bounty: The True Story of the Mutiny on the Bounty. It's really good. The Bounty was a merchant ship when merchant ships were not at all glamorous. War was glamorous. The story had a bunch of scarred-up dudes, and it was just interesting overall."

"Right now I'm reading Pimp by Iceberg Slim. It's got me wanting to put my foot in a hoe's ass for real. I read it before but not very thoroughly so I'm reading it now because I've just got a Kindle. I grew up in Oakland where a lot of pimping and underage prostitution went on so I can relate. I can put myself in that position, but as a pimp. It's a fantasy."

Ya'll I cannot express my love for RL Mathewson - nor this series - I've probably read the entire series twice and the first few books about 5 times, I just recently listened to this audiobook and I just, I need more - RL just keeps stealing my money and it should make me sad but truly, it doesnt - and her interaction with fans is impeccable. Jason will always be my favourite Bradford and the epilogue was probably my favourite part of the book - mostly, and the use of YOU BASTARD just was undeniable in this book.. seriously, obsessed - also I think there's a reference to hollywood hearts book 1 in there - which even after I read this book multiple times I just now noticed, I clearly need help - read this series .. do it NOW

I loved, LOVED this book! I've had it sitting in my "to read" pile for quite awhile now & decided it was time to read it. Now I'm pissed off at myself that I waited so long!!!
The book was engaging. I didn't want to put it down. It was an easy, quick read. Kind of a mixture between the Twilight books & the Hunger Games series...but don't take that as being it is the same. Some of elements of those great series show up in this one, but it is by NO means a copy.
Cassia, Ky, & Xander are all very well developed, easy to like characters. They add a great depth to the story which is, in some ways a typical teenage love triangle story, but different from the usual too.
I am very much looking forward to jumping into the 2nd book in the series to find out what happens to all 3 of them. It left me feeling the need to say, "Do not go gentle into that good night." ;)

I've now read this book twice in the course of 2-3 months, which is something I never do. The second time around I found it just as hard to put down. I can't wait until the next book to see if this story remains as engaging. This book is my favorite read of the past year or two by far.
