Rachel, you poor, nervous thing....are you truly paranoid, or is someone actually out to get you? There are people in Edgewater, Oregon (an incestuous little town if ever there was one), who think that twenty years ago, Rachel Gaston got away with the murder of her own brother. But did she? Figuring this out is half the fun, so you won't find any spoilers here. There's alot going on in this story, and the author thoughtfully provides a ton of characters on which to cast your suspicions, keeping the reader off balance.
I do have a bone to pick: Rachel's kids. THEY ARE SUCH LITTLE ASSHOLES. They are the worst teenage cliches on two legs. I can't even tell you how many times I thought to myself "OMG I'd have slapped you by now." At one point, I thought that maybe Harper (the eldest and most bitchy child) would start to understand her mom's paranoia, and mellow the hell out.....not so. I also feel like the author spends far too much time on Dylan's little "side business" before actually telling us what it is.
The reveals definitely got me! I hadn't been able to guess up to that point, and that's a good thing. It also seems as though it may have been left open for a sequel? Not necessary, in my opinion, as it stands on its own.

At 15 years of age, Vincent King is sent to an adult prison for the murder of Sissie Radley. He doesn’t dispute this - he was driving the car, he didn’t realise he’d hit her, but he had hit her all the same. He goes to prison for 30 years, leaving his best friend Walk, and his girl friend Star Radley, Sissie’s sister, behind. Thirty years later, he’s released and returns to his hometown and his parents house.
In the meantime, Star has had two children: Duchess and Robin. Star clearly has problems with alcohol, and Duchess often has to look after her when she’s incapable of looking after herself. She also takes care of her younger brother, Robin s a mother would.
I don’t actually want to go in to too much detail, because there’s a lot of detail to go in to! Suffice it to say, that when I wasn’t reading this, I was thinking about it. It’s a beautifully written, melancholy story, and I became so attached to the main characters: not just the children, but also Walk, the Sheriff, and Vincent King himself. There are so many twists and turns. Just when you think you know what’s happening, something else comes along and changes everything. And the ending broke my heart! I spent the last Pigeonhole instalment blinking away the tears so that I could read it. If this book doesn’t win awards, then something is very wrong with the world! Wonderful, wonderful writing.

So obviously, as the title suggests, this takes place on a train. There are three main characters introduced, and I did look up their names, so I’m not insulting: Tanjirô (kid with a scar), Zenitsu (blond kid), and Inosuke (a kid that wears a boar mask…). They hop on this train, because apparently people keep going missing, and there’s a demon behind it. They come across this other warrior guy, named Kyôjurô (flame dude), and he’s pretty good at slaying these demons.
You can tell there’s something creepy occurring on this train, and it was quite atmospheric and suspenseful. Then, more nightmare fuel appeared, a disembodied hand that had eyeballs and this crazy set of teeth. So, there’s our demon. Our heroes get trapped in dreams and can’t wake. Obviously, our heroes do eventually wake up, but not before Tanjirô’s sister, Nezuko, hops out of the box that he carries on his back to help wake her bro up. Apparently, Nezuko is a demon and has to be kept in a box.
The majority of the time, I was so confused, but I still enjoyed the movie. The final battles are great, and the animation was great. I do plan on watching the anime now. If you are going to choose to watch this film, I recommend either watching the anime series first, or just go with it and enjoy it as much as you can.
