I picked up Haunted after I had finished [b:The Seance|959245|The Seance (Harrison Investigation, #5)|Heather Graham|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1255876724s/959245.jpg|944150], and I was unaware that they both feature Adam and Harrison Investigations. I'm all set to read [b:The Vision|731809|The Vision (Harrison Investigation, #3)|Heather Graham|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1177781638s/731809.jpg|717999] that I just picked up from the library. Even though I've completely juggled around the order of when they were written, it's lucky for me that they are standalones. In the prologue it gave background information about Adam's son, Josh, who was mentioned just briefly in The Seance, and he plays a big part in this book, so I was happy to find out all that information before I get to next book that features Harrison Investigations.
Now to get to the main story in Haunted...
Even though with the way Darcy was written you would think she was a Mary-Sue, she wasn't and I liked her just fine. Now Matt on the other hand, well he was a jerk, plain and simple. I never could like him much and that detracted a lot from the book. It seems that Heather Graham must make the male lead a hard-core skeptic that just will not believe (until the end of course) in anything paranormal and thinks the female lead is crazy or delusional or something. It would be nice if it was reversed or if maybe, just maybe, the hero is open-minded enough to say, well maybe there is 'something' out there that cannot be proven. *gasp* Is that even possible? Can a hero ever truly be open-minded? Not in these books. He has to be so narrow-minded that his thought-blocks must fit neatly into their right-shaped holes (e.g. triangle block into triangle hole, etc.).
I really enjoyed the whole Darcy/Josh/Adam/Ghost hunting thing. I thought the author did a good job describing how Darcy went about finding out about the ghosts and that's what made this book good. I really did like Darcy a lot and she was a sympathetic character who stood up for herself and acted like an adult with poise and class (unlike some other character I could mention). The mystery did keep me guessing because I was never quite sure who the ghost was or what had happened, although I had narrowed down who was behind everything to two people, leaning more on the actual culprit (yay me!), for lack of suspects. So overall, the mystery was very good, though I wish Ms. Graham would bring in more people so it isn't as easy to figure out. All in all, not as good as The Seance, but a good and entertaining read.

I forgot to mention that there were tons of editing problems, which seem to be a mainstay in H.G.'s books. Once Clint's name is changed to Cliff and Josh was referred to as Matt, plus numerous other things that cropped up everywhere.

To Touch You (Mates #4) by Cardeno C.
To Touch You is the fourth book in the Mates series, and this time it is Yoram and Salvatore's story. Now, this one is a bit different because Yoram first meets Salvatore when he is only 7-years-old. He makes his claim clear to Ethan and Miguel, although he only sees Salvatore as his friend. The years pass and Yoram and Salvatore don't really have many interactions, apart from Salvatore pushing Yoram away. Salvatore is turned by Miguel, but doesn't have much to do with the vampires in Vegas where he lives, so he is mostly clueless when it comes to vampires and shifters - especially true mates.
Yoram has more responsibilities piled onto him than he bargained for, and this means that he is unable to help Salvatore like he has been. Salvatore make the trip to find out what is wrong, and through various interactions with Yoram's family, learns just what exactly Yoram has done for him, and what being a true mate means.
This was a brilliant story. Salvatore is not a very nice character to start with, but you are with him as he realises the error of his ways, and finds out what he has to do to make it right. Yoram is a (HOT) sweetie, and tries to do the right thing no matter what. There is a bit of an overlay between the Yoram/Salvatore story, and that of Samuel and Korban. You don't need to have read the Samuel/Korban story to understand this one, but you will be missing out on a great book if you don't!
There were no editing or grammatical errors that I noticed to disrupt my reading flow. I found the book to be exceptionally written, with plenty of character development, especially for Salvatore. I loved how their story was spread out over so many years, and loved seeing them both change. A fantastic addition to the Mates series, and highly recommended by me.

Yoram has more responsibilities piled onto him than he bargained for, and this means that he is unable to help Salvatore like he has been. Salvatore make the trip to find out what is wrong, and through various interactions with Yoram's family, learns just what exactly Yoram has done for him, and what being a true mate means.
This was a brilliant story. Salvatore is not a very nice character to start with, but you are with him as he realises the error of his ways, and finds out what he has to do to make it right. Charlie and her Siren-partner, Hank, have been working on a disastrous case—trying to track down the source and destroy a new drug that is putting people all over Atlanta in comas. But after they begin digging deeper, they discover a whole new level of their assignment: one that puts Charlie, her ex-husband, her daughter whom she loves more than anyone or anything in the whole world, everyone in Atlanta, and the rest of the world, at stake… and only Charlie Madigan can save them.
The Better Part of Darkness is a fast-paces riveting debut novel that holds you by the neck until the last page. I’ve never enjoyed science fiction so much in my life.
This book had the perfect combination of sci-fi, crime, thriller, and romance to make it an addicting read to lover of any genre. The writing makes it wonderfully plausible and incredibly witty, and the characters were the kinds that you cheered for.
Charlie was my kind of girl—totally kick-butt in every way, shape, and form. She was tough as nails, rock-hard, dedicated to her job, but she had her soft spots for those that she held closest to her.
I will be sitting on the edge of my seat for the sequel of this book, titled “The Darkest Edge of Dawn.” 5 stars and two thumbs up to you, Kelly Gay: you just made my bookshelf.
Content: This book is not for the easily offended. There was language and sexual aspects of the book that make it an adult novel, though there were no sex scenes.
Recommendation: Ages 17+ to anyone who wants to read a really exceptional book.

The first book I read by Marieke Nijkamp was This Is Where It Ends about a school shooting. I really enjoyed the book and Ms. Nijkamps writing and I enjoyed this book as well. I gave the book 4 stars because there was a part of it that was a little strange to me, where the town of Lost Creek seemed like a cult.
I don't know what I would do if I moved away and a few month later found out my best friend was dead and no one who was around her could explain what happened and why. No one would allow her to live her life. Kyra was bi-polar and when she and Corey were together they talked about Kyra getting help with her manic episodes. She hated the way she felt. Corey felt bad about not keeping in touch with Kyra the way she should have. Kyra said she would wait for Corey, but what happened to her that she felt death was a better option. This book had me in tears toward the end and several times it left my heart racing.

The Du Lac Prophecy (The Du Lac Chronicles #4) by Mary Anne Yarde
The Du Lac Prophecy is the fourth book in The Du Lac Chronicles, and we return to Merton, now known as Galahad, and Amandine - following her daring rescue from under the nose of Mordred and the Archbishop of Rome.
The first few pages of this book are brutal and heartbreaking. There is so much sorrow and horror, I was immediately emotional and completely immersed within the story, and the characters' lives. The thing is, the thing that makes Mary Anne Yarde an outstanding storyteller is the fact that some of the emotion comes from a pair of horses!
This IS book four, and it would certainly help if you have read the previous books, just so you get the full appreciation of the other characters strengths and foibles. This is also quite involved, so it would help to have the background on what is going on.
I am happy to report Tegan once again plays a part in this story, with her becoming a more important character than previously recognised. I can't wait to see where this particular thread is going, and how it will be woven within the main story tapestry.
Arthur and his knights have held a fascination for me from a very young age, and I have always wanted to write their story. Alas and Alack! I am unable to do that, but instead I have the greatest pleasure to lose myself in their story as told by this amazing author.
As a final, technical note, I am happy to say there were no editing or grammatical errors to disrupt my reading flow. The pacing is smooth, and the story, even with so many different threads, still manages to keep the reader involved, and not confused. I would definitely recommend reading this series in order. I can guarantee you won't be disappointed. Absolutely and utterly recommended.

HEARTRENDING/CONTROVERSIAL

And certainties unwind as truths and secrets are peeled away, revealing the complexity of balancing the right to life with the right to choose.
NO MATTER YOUR OWN PERSONAL VIEWS ON THE SUBJECT MATTER.... this is a very well written story that is going to divide us all.
Characters and situations that you can relate to on a personal level either yourself or someone you know brought to light and in a way to reveal the things that brought them to where they are and how they collide.
The timeline is an important structure of how this story flows so you do need to be aware that the timeline actually counts back in hours beginning at the end with each previous hour becoming the feature of the next chapter.
I am a mother myself so I have my own personal feelings around the subject line and was able to put that to the back of my mind and enjoy the thorough research the author has done to represent each side of the abortion debate that exists.
All of this aside it is a very emotional story that gripped me til the end as always.
I was fortunate enough to have been able to read this as an ARC and found it hard to stay away from other reviews already posted before finishing. I do hope you give the book a read and enjoy as I have.

Wipe Out by Jordan Ford
And here it is! Wipe Out is the fourth book in the Ryder Bay series, and it is the one that ticked all my boxes. It doesn't matter which series of Jordan Ford's I am reading, there is always one that shines just that little bit more for me. In this series, it's this one!! Now, don't get me wrong. I have thoroughly enjoyed ALL of the other books, but this one though... Sheer perfection!
We first met Jace, also known as Bass, and Lettie (Snap Dragon) in Riptide, which is part of the Boys of Summer series by various authors. We find out that Jace is struggling to cope with life's changes, and as such, searches out for that elusive adrenaline rush. Lettie is still struggling with her mother's death, even though she is told that three years is enough time, and she should move on. These two find something in the other that soothes their souls.
In Wipe Out, we learn more about them. We see Jace move to Ryder Bay, and start off by having just as much 'fun' as before. We see Lettie struggling with the new school year after being dumped by her best friend. And these two still connect - either in email form, or in person. I adored how both of them were concerned about cheating on their on-line personas.
There is a bit of everything in here - so many emotions, feelings, situations to deal with. I loved the ending with Reed, although I won't say anything further because, you know, spoilers!
All in all, this is a fantastically written book, with plenty to get your teeth into. There were no editing or grammatical errors that I noticed, and the pacing was oh so very smooth. Turner, tries his best to soothe the hard feelings of former Circuit Judge Delilah James, the woman he bested in the election by only a narrow margin, but his friends and her haughty reputation are making it difficult for him to let things slide. Worse yet, a vengeful assistant state attorney, the other candidate whose entry in the race actually handed the win to John, is seeking to have them both removed from the Florida Bar. Delilah wants to make amends to John, but every time she attempts to apologize or to behave in court, she makes a mess of it. Since leaving the bench, life has become complicated: Johns teenager sister hates her, Libby Carter, has been arrested for battery on a police officer and embroiled her in the plight of the homeless, her past has returned to haunt her, and if thats not enough, shes fallen into the one experience in life she never thought would happen to her. John finally offers to make peace, but Delilahs not ready for that. Calling a truce with the man you love? Whats the fun in that?
My Thoughts: What more can I say? A story about friends who become like family; they care for one another, they look out for one another and they are there for one another. This is a fabulous book! I honestly could not put this one down.
All the characters are fun, the storyline runs smoothly. Yhis is a book the reader won't put down until it's finished.
The themes that I pulled from the story were, forgiveness and grace. It's about showing the love of God, and how it can influence others. It's about knowing the peace of God and showing His love to others.
