One of the earliest official Star Wars tie-in novels, I remember reading this when it first came out in about '94.

What's interesting is how perception changes: at the time, I remember thinking it was one of the best books I'd read, but now (with time behind me) it's not quite as good as I remember. Still worth a read, though!

Again. I love it.
I watched film in my early years of high school not knowing it was based on a book.
So, now I am going to read the book and I am scared it won't be the same as the film, but will be even better! Fingers crossed ?

"Next is The Color Purple, for obvious reasons. The first way I came to it was the film, a bit before I read the book. And it has some of my favorite people in it. And I think I’ve met them now, strangely enough, most of those people from the film."

I went into this book with high expectations from all the hype and the synopsis sounded awesome. I didn’t love it but I also didn’t hate it. It was a bit slow getting into it and some parts got a little confusing throughout the book but it also had a good chunk of parts that had me not wanting to put the book down just because I wanted to see how certain parts played out. It is not a book I will likely read again but now I have read it.

"This is, without exception, the funniest book I’ve ever read. The phrasebook scene (which I won’t delineate further in case you haven’t yet read the book and might enjoy doing so) has made me laugh every time I’ve read it, and I’ve now read it several hundred times. Macauley has a great gentleness, and though she keeps up her wry take on the absurd, she is also engaged in moral inquiry, in the attempt to know and understand what is right and what is the opposite of right."

suspense, horror, and quite a bit of gore now firmly re-established, it seems like Scott is just warming up with his welcome return to this universe.
