Stephen King always managed to draw me into his books. But with this one I was totally hooked and it was on my mind long after I finished reading it. The idea of going back in time to potentially change something so huge, it stays with you! I've read this book 3 times now and will undoubtedly read a lot more!

I can honestly say that I will never read an excerpt via NetGalley because now I have to sit here and wait for the book to to be released!!! What an amazing start!!! I will of course update this review once I've read it in its entirety.

As a person who reads as much as I do and loves dystopian fiction it is surprising that I had not read [The Giver] by [Lois Lowry] before now. It has been in my classroom for years and on "my list" but I never got around to it. Now with it coming out as a movie(which I will never see because the book is ALWAYS better), I decided to read it.
It reminded me of [Fahrenheit 451] by [Ray Bradbury]. The concept of a sterilized society without creativity has been around for a long time. [Lowry] puts the reliance of society's memory on a child. It becomes his responsibility to remember and protect them from their own history. The Sameness is their protection but at what cost?
Overall I enjoyed [The Giver] and hope all my students read it.

Read in one sitting
This was recommended through Goodreads based on my other reads and since it was a freebie, I thought, why not? And downloaded it. And then read it in one sitting. I was completely pulled in from the beginning and this thing she has going with Corrigan has definitely got me intrigued.
I'm even going to buy book 2 and start it right now, even if it has gone 1am. Who needs sleep?

I know this book is a middle school book, but I think everyone should read it. I have a greater appreciation for the mentally disabled now and my life will be richer for it. Belongs up there with "Wonder" as required reading.

My first 5 star read of the year! It was such an awesome read ?!!! If you haven't checked this out then you should.
It sucked me in and I couldn't put it down and then when I got to the end I was thrown for a loop.
This book gave me a book hangover and ripped my heart out and then put it back.
You have to check this book out - go now!!!

Fast-Paced and Intense Thriller!
I haven't read a thriller this good in a very long time. It was fast-paced, intriguing until the very ending, a page-turner. And if anything was ever confusing, it made up for it right away. I honestly did not want this little sucker punch of a novel to end. It kept me on my toes and left me wanting more. Now that's a heck of a novel!
