Audiobook: Stephen Fry’s excellent book narrated expertly.
I love Stephen Fry’s voice, and he reads his book so well. There’s great detail and great story choices. I’m a big fan of Greek mythology anyway, ever since I was a child, and this is a superb way to revisit those stories. It’s a great selection, I really enjoyed his take on the stories and what he added to the dialogue of the Gods, Goddesses and unfortunate humans.

I received this book in a first reads give away and i enjoyed it immensely, i found it well written different to anything i had read before and i finished it in one sitting, I think The one safe place would appeal to both younger and older readers and i am planning to read it with my two boys of nine and ten as i think they would greatly enjoy it.so a thumbs up from me a good read.

I really enjoyed this book. For me, the story started off a little slow but by the 5th or so chapter I was hooked and couldn't put it down without reading large chunks of it at a time. The football team added a great aspect to the overall story and I loved how the story ended, even if it meant the Blue Umbrella was put up for sale. So glad I won this book as a first reads winner!
David McK (3372 KP) rated Hellboy, Vol. 1: Seed of Destruction in Books
Jan 28, 2019
The inspiration for the Ron-Perlman led movie(s) of the same name, Hellboy - like the lead character - is sort of a strange mix: in this case, of the occult with the medium of the graphic novel with a very Cthulu-like monster at the end of the tale.
I also have to say that this is proof that Marvel and DC aren't the only two publishers in the world able to produce compelling and enjoyable reads!

Auburn (57 KP) rated How to Flunk Magic in Books
Jun 21, 2019
I read this through Kindle Unlimited. Its a fun read of magic going wrong. This book reads like how I imagine a real life witch would handle magic. Not everything will go right and you have to learn to be yourself. Plus the boy was swoon worthy.
My only problem is that it is very British. The terms and writing are sometimes very difficult to understand.
Should you try it: Do you enjoy magic that goes horribly wrong?

Read in one sitting
This was recommended through Goodreads based on my other reads and since it was a freebie, I thought, why not? And downloaded it. And then read it in one sitting. I was completely pulled in from the beginning and this thing she has going with Corrigan has definitely got me intrigued.
I'm even going to buy book 2 and start it right now, even if it has gone 1am. Who needs sleep?
