Black Ties and Lullabies (Playboys, #3)

Black Ties & Lullabies is a contemporary romance...not usually a book I would pick up on my own. I borrowed it from a friend after she won it on First Reads. It was an entertaining, light read, the perfect book to be reading at the start of the school year.
I enjoyed the story & the characters were interesting & well developed. So why 3 stars? Well, the plot itself was very predictable, maybe that's why I'm not so into romance novels. I like a little suspense & I could pretty much see every aspect of this story taking place before it actually did.

I won this book as a First Reads giveaway on Goodreads. I had never read any of the Nick Heller series so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. Let me begin by saying I was pleasantly surprised. The book is well written with deep, meaningful characters. It was filled with nonstop action and enough suspense for three books. I think I havediscovered a new favorite series! Nick Heller is comprable to Berry's Cotton Malone without being an obvious knock-off. I truly enjoyed this book & will be looking for more Joseph Finder books in the future.

This is the second in this series by this author. I re read 'hard rules' so that I could really enjoy this story. This book is full of family dramas, steamy romance and some suspense. These book can not be read as stand alone reads, they need to be read in order. Same fantastic characters as the first book. You will fall more in love with the characters as you read in this book. I can't wait to read more from this amazing author in the future.
Highly recommended

Devilishly Angelic
I was a little nervous about this one as the book it's based on is one of my all time favourite reads. However, I was very pleasantly surprised with this mini series, of course this is down to Neil Gaiman being involved in the whole project meaning that it remained true to the original material. The actors were well chosen and the young cast portraying Adam and his friends were a true pleasure to watch. All in all a great weekend watch that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Join Jack, May, and Phillip as they journey through this alternative take on fairy tales. All the characters you know are here, and help or keep our trio from completing their quest to save their kingdom from an evil plot.

All three books in the series are in this set, and they are all compelling reads. You'll want to read them all back to back. There's action, great characters, plot twists, and sarcasm. You can't go wrong.

I really wanted to like this book, and after [b:Alongside Night|1955398|J. Neil Schulman's Alongside Night|J. Neil Schulman|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1190837684s/1955398.jpg|1958351] I had fairly high expectations. I knew that I agreed with most of his political views as I understood them, so all should have been well.

Unfortunately, it reads as if Schulman had a political point to make and wrote the story around it. The world and the plot are just pasted onto the soapbox. The rationale given for why the population has gotten so skewed so that there are too few women doesn't ring true.

Great for Reading on iPad or iPhone
I really love the Kindle App. I love how it automatically sends my books right from the Amazon website an dhow it connects with Good reads. Its easy to use and the options are great- page flip, colors, font sizes and choices aplenty. It seems to have a weird glitch though the pages don't typically work 1,2,3.... they always have a random "location number like 380 of 5265 and it goes up by 10 every time I flip the page.

I don't read Holiday novels especially Christmas I can be somewhat of a Grinch myself during this time. I have to say that Holly chase was the perfect introduction into a Holiday book character that I needed. I loved her snarky comments and commentary during the novel. The play on the classic Christmas Carol made it relatable enough because I knew that story and making the connection between the two during the story was fun to see in what ways it would come together. I think this is a classic book that could hold up to multiple re-reads even.
