"Like a lot of my most recent reads, I found a copy of this in my local Underground station book swap/donation area. It's a very moving and insightful, disturbing and sometimes humorous account of Ben coming to terms with a rare illness, a massive change to his life, and the seemingly unending search for clarity about his condition, and an improvement in his health. It is gripping from the first page, and barely touches on his music career, focusing much more on family and his experiences with the NHS. I’ve not read anything else quite like it."

Race and the Enlightenment: A Reader

Book Favorite

"One of my favorite reads from those fundamental years of art school, I first discovered this book when trying to come to terms with western Enlightenment culture’s broad impact on ideation in artistic practice. So much of Enlightenment thinking is poisoned by prior notions of race that one must ask: Is it ever possible to separate some of our greatest understandings derived from the Enlightenment era from its problematic history? In Race and the Enlightenment, Eze examines foundational writings on race by major Enlightenment figures and lays bare the toxic notions of their time in their own words."

Gripping LetRPG
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Having already devoured a Luke Chmilenko collaboration, I was greatly anticipating Savage Dominion by Luke Chmilenko and G.D. Penman. This book did not disappoint!!

From the very beginning, this book reads like the best RPG you have ever played. Three unlikely characters become travelling companions, and then almost friends as they take on challenges and quests together. We see them levelling up and learning new skills and abilities as they proceed on their journey.

Already looking forward to Savage Dominion: Wyrmshard!!

This was really rather dark, which I wasn't expecting. I wasn't entirely sure what to expect, actually, I just wanted something a little different to my usual reads of yaoi and shojo. And this certainly was.

It was erotica with sex scenes in every chapter but one chapter was really dark with one of the characters abused bother physically and sexually.

On the other hand there is an almost silver lining with a budding relationship blossoming between our abused character and a young guy who's become fixated with her.

I may have to read the next volume to see what happens next.

Wow
I absolutely loved this book. I couldn't put it down but I had to at times because l didn't want it to end. Even though this book is fiction I was so caught up in Anke's journey that the author made it feel so real life. The author captured the sadness of real life history, and with her knowledge of midwifery this book fast became one of my favourite reads in years. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who has a fascination for stories about the holocaust.
